Is something wrong with my foot?

Question Posted Tuesday March 14 2006, 6:28 pm

For a couple years now, I have been able to control this pain in my foot. If I stretch out my foot (mostly toes) and then push them slightly down with my muscles, my foot will freeze in that position and it becomes very painful. Sometimes, my foot will just go into this position without me making it. Is this some sort of condition, can I prevent it?

Are you double jointed in any other part of your body? (Fingers, elbows, etc?) I get this in my foot as well and it is a result of the loose joints I have from being double jointed. Otherwise, I would suggest going to some sort of walk-in clinic to find out what it is.
Hope this helps!
Love,
Nevaeh

well sometimes when i flex or point my foot to hard my toes curl. this happens when you dont have enough potasium in your body. try to eat a lot of bananas, see if it helps.

This is just a muscle cramp, everybody gets them. Sometimes you might get them in your calf. Its nothing to worry about. Muscle cramps are usually a result of overworking the muscle or growing. In terms of prevention, you can eat the following:

water
calcium (milk, broccoli, etc.)
sodium (salt, although salt has negative effects on your body when taken in large amounts, so you might not want to eat a lot of it)
potassium (bananas)

Other than that, there isn't really much you can do. They get less frequent as you get older. They are extremely painful, but shouldn't last very long. Hope I helped.

That has happened to me, usually when my feet are cold, or I'm stretching. It's a muscle spasm.
You can prevent it by making sure you don't overstretch, and keep your feet relaxed when you do stretch. Also, keep your feet warm.
This at least sounds like what has happened to me, and since I've done all this (been careful about stretching, kept my feet warm) I haven't had another muscle spasm.
Good luck!
