I cant stand my dad any more. He drives me insane! i have this problem with people making noises when they eat, talking when im doing homework/reading/watching tv and then blowing their noses like in the living room. All of which he is WELL aware of and he keeps doing it. I cant even stand to be in the same room as him anymore. Is this a sign of OCD or something like that? How can i learn how to chill about these things?
Thank you! I'll rate high <3
AskCary answered Wednesday March 8 2006, 11:48 pm: I don't think you have OCD, but I do think you are very sensitive to noise. Some people just have very good hearing. I am the same way about noise, I notice every little or not so little sound and it can drive you crazy!!! I really don't think that your Dad is being loud on purpose, he's just living in the same house and doing normal things that people do such as blow their nose. It's not reasonable to expect your Dad to tiptoe around you. It would be one thing if he were blaring music or something obviously loud and obnoxious, but from what you said that doesn't seem to be the case.
All you can do is go somewhere such as your room to do homework and read or maybe try listening to classical music with headphones to block out noise. One other thing to think about is whether or not there is something else about your Dad that is bothering you. If so, it's possible that subconciously you are looking for a reason to be irritated with him. Just a thought, you may just be super sensitive to noise. I hate all of these things but maybe he is doing it because you dont like it and it pisses you off. If your doing homework and hes doing it thats kind of messed up. Dont let him know its bothering you and eventually he'll stop if not talk to your mom aor a sibling about it. Sorry if its not what you want to hear.
