Okay, May is my 8th grade dance. I am really small and have trouble finding a dress. I can't even wear a 00 without it falling off. I'm 4'9 and 72lbs. I have no idea what kinda dress its supposed to be. Can you show me some examples? And tell me places to get them.
But hold/on honestly I don't want to go I mean my mom is in the "8th Grade Dance Committee" and she's doing alot for this dance. But I have no date and don't want to go without one. Question is should I go without one. [I honestly think its stupid]
Also with hair and make-up. I have tan [not really tan] skin. Brown eyes with gold tint. And brownish-reddish a little longer then my sholders hair. How should I get my hair did?
So here are my questions:
1. Places to get dresses?
2. Pictures of dresses?
3. Should I go without a date?
4. How should I get my hair/makeup done? [pictures]
AND Any other stuff I should know. Tips and such. THANK YOU!!
orphans answered Monday February 27 2006, 8:42 pm: abercrombie (NOT && FITCH). abercrombie is for little people. dont worry about your hair cuz your in 8th grade. you shouldnt go without one, but you could go with your best guy friend (not necessarily as a date). type of dress. get a color that suits your colors, shape, and eyes. pictures aren't necessarily good, since i dont know what you look like. for make up, do something subtle, like gold eyeshadow, and lipgloss. Julesianne answered Monday February 27 2006, 6:55 pm: 1 - I recommend Macys. They have a teenage department with tons of cute dresses that aren't too extravagent and in a fair price range that come in smaller sizes for us petite girls :-) Also try delia's, they have teenage dresses that fit my younger sister whos about your size that are fit for this occasion. Deb is similar to delia's.
3 - For my 8th grade dance almost nobody came with a date unless they were boyfriend/girlfriend. I dont think you should go with one because thats more of a prom thing. Go with a group of friends because you'll definetly have a lot more fun. and you can also dance with a whole bunch of guys ;-)
4 - I got an updo with lots of curls for mine, but I would say half the girls got their hair done and half just wore their normally down. but here are some pictures. for your hair type and skin tone I recommend half up done curly.
as for makeup. nothing too out there. just excentuate your normal makeup with shimmer eye shadow, a little more mascara, darker eyeliner, and a shaded lipgloss. add a hint of blush and youre ready :-) [ Julesianne's advice column | Ask Julesianne A Question ]
DONTxWORRYxBExHAPPY answered Monday February 27 2006, 6:24 pm: 1. i looked at department stores and big stores for my graduation dresses.. like Nordstrom, Famous Barr, JCPenney's, Dillards, stuff like that, but if you are having trouble getting dresses that fit you, i suggest going to bridal shops, because they have dresses for bridemaids any size and shape, but it will be more pricey.
2. go to those stores websites?
3. i know going to dances without a date seems pathetic, but it shouldnt ruin what youve been looking forward to all of grade school! and i am sure there is someone out there who would kill to ask you, but they are scarED! try asking some of your close guy friends, or maybe even your crush. if you can, ask someone who goes to another school, like a neighbor who you are friends with, and if you still cant bear to go alone, you could always ask a cousin and not tell people he's your cousin and ah-bviously dont act like cousins but dont get TOO close.
4. my hair is like yours i think, but more reddish, and its the same length. my hair looks good in loose curls, (look in march's cosmogirl on page 60 for cute styles).. and seventeen magazine has great tips on makeup and stuff, plus you can go to a store in the mall and have the girls do your makeup there.
Any of those styles and cuts would be appropriate. Now that it's getting closer to prom, there will be tons of dresses in various dept stores in these styles or near to them that you can buy.
For makeup, I'd stick to subtle tones to brighten your skin, hair, and eyes.
Advicelady6798 answered Monday February 27 2006, 4:58 pm: Places to get dresses would be like sears and JC pennys an dask them for their formal dresses. Think of it as going to church. You would usually wea a nice dress. thats about it for that. Its not lie prom or homecoming so any pretty dress would do. Buy it big and then take to a prom dress store and have them do alterations basicly they fix it so it can fit you. Its always fun to hae a date but it is even more fun just hanging out with your friends. Just ask one of your close guy friends if they want to go with you and if you dont have any it is perfectly ok to go by yourself. The colors for you would something kind of dark like a dark red or blue that would bring out your hair and eyes. With you hair you should havein it in a half ponytail and get the rest in curls that is what did for my prom. If you are already kind of dark you wont need any foundation. Always use eyeshadow to match your dress out put on light blush and have eyeline to bring out your eyes. I bet your mom would do a great job on you if you had her do it. Lipstick just clear lipgloss.
