Question Posted Saturday February 25 2006, 4:00 pm
So i have pin straight hair, like you can not curl it at all no matter how long you leave the iron in for or sleep in curls, it does not work. I was thinking about a perm, but how long do they last? Do they damage your hair? Can you still straighten it? Is it hard to straighten? Are there different types of perms? Yeah I am a perm-dummy so all the help and information would be helpful :] I will rate high if I get a good response.
They only damage your hair if you get it done over and over again, you can still straiten it if you want, but it'll take longer. So,its kind-of- hard =o//
all type of perms!!you can get banana curls, ringlets, soft curls, wavy, tons! Also when your getting it done,it might hurt =o
i hope this helped!!!

Of course they will damage your hair if you get them done all the time, just like using hairdryers too much or straightening too much. However, you only need to get it done maybe once a year. When I was 5 I had very thin very straight hair. I got it permed once a year from 1st grade to 5th. Because of the perms my hair is now wavy and thick. I love it. Perms do a lot of good for your hair. The chemicals aren't terrible, I mean, come on, I was 6 years old when I got my hair permed. You can still smell them slightly for about a week afterwards, but after that there's nothing to worry about. I am talking from personal experience. Perms are good for your hair. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to straighten it, but I think that is a question for a professional. Ask your hairdresser. If I were you I wouldn't trust much of what was said on advicenators about this topic. Even my answer. Not many people on here are going to have much experience or knowledge with this topic so before you make any decisions definitely talk to a professional and trust what they say over everything else. Good luck! [ sizzlinmandolin's advice column | Ask sizzlinmandolin A Question ]

AskAndy answered Saturday February 25 2006, 5:28 pm: Yea perms damage your hair, so make sure your hair is very healthy before getting one. They last a very long time, but they don't look good after you wash your hair, but its still there, and you might have to cut your hair to get rid of one, depending on how thick or thin your hair is. You can still straighten it-it will damage your hair more, and depending on what kind of perm you get, it may be harder or easier. There is a perm which makes coarse hair thin and straight, and there is a perm that makes hair curly, but that one will probably damage more on your hair. There are probably more but those two are most popular. Don't change what you do to your hair chemical wise unless you ask your hairdresser, and don't do it at home, because your hair might start to break or fall out. SweetxxIntoxication answered Saturday February 25 2006, 4:55 pm: Perms last just about forever and you have to get them redone, they can be damaging depending on your hair, Its probably a little hard to straighten, and doing that could damage it too.. I suggest that you should ask a cosmetologist before getting a Perm to see what other options you have, and any tips. [ SweetxxIntoxication's advice column | Ask SweetxxIntoxication A Question ]
JazziJazz answered Saturday February 25 2006, 4:48 pm: A perm lasts pretty much forever you just have to get the perm redone when your hair grows out so the new hair will be permed too. They only damage your hair when you don't take care of your hair or if you wash it to often. Given your type of hair it will problably be easier to straighten and there are many different types of perms for straight and curly hair. [ JazziJazz's advice column | Ask JazziJazz A Question ]
