I mean there was bride n prejudice and it took everyone by a storm. Anyway I think it's also because of what's going on in the world today...about racism and stuff and it just is so relating to it that it makes sense to see it and undertsnad what loves can pass through just to be with that one person [ jammy12's advice column | Ask jammy12 A Question ]

Women like Elizabeth were likely frowned upon for their outspoken and witty natures and usually weren't glorified in text by ANYONE, much less a woman. The vocabulary was good and the basic style is, for the most part, rather entertaining and only moderately difficult for people in high school... unless they aren't much into reading. As for a movie, there are a number of things. Everyone wants to see Keira Knightly, it seems. At least people adore someone TALENTED, for once. And of course, everyone loves a British Victorian Romance movie. Well, not everyone. But you know it will ALWAYS fly with women and some of the more appreciative, probably older men. :)
