Im 13 in 7th grade and I want to be in the talent show and I've selected a really good piece---"Un Moto Di Gioia" from Marriage of Figaro. I know that I'm only 13 and all, but I've been singing for a really long time and my voice is plenty mature and operatic to sing this---my choir teacher assigned it to me as a solo last year at choir camp and I did a fine job, so don't give me a lecture on "your-voice-isn't-mature-enough" because it is. The only problem is, what if people, like, make fun of me for singing this in the 7th grade? I mean, everyone else will be doing stuff like rapping and pop like Mariah Carey and it'll just look...weird. Do you think I should lay back or go for it???
Love_Backwards answered Monday February 6 2006, 7:50 pm: i would totally go for it! who cares what other poeple think, if your a good singer, and can sing operatic peices of music, i would show off your talen to everyone. who cares if everyone else is foing all those pop songs and stuff. do what you want, and dont let any body tell you what you can or can not do. in my talent shows ive been in, people have rapped, to elvis, to violin, to piano. it doesnt matter, do what you want!! it wont seem weird. trust me. ♥ ashley [ Love_Backwards's advice column | Ask Love_Backwards A Question ]
orphans answered Monday February 6 2006, 6:39 pm: I think it's amazingg that you can sing an operatic piece. Just prove to those Mariah singing wannabes that your voice IS mature enough to sing that song. If they say anything, it'll only be because they are jealous. If you believe you can do it, go for it, i bet that you'll impress everyone!
Good luck at the talent show... giv'em a run for their money... and knock their sox off! I say GO FOR IT!
hopelessly_devoted answered Sunday February 5 2006, 10:06 pm: definetly, 100%, go for it! if anyone makes fun of you they are jealous losers who are too insecure to do anything that wonderful in front of people. good luck and rock the house.
fish34 answered Sunday February 5 2006, 10:04 pm: Definitely go for it! Prove those "your-voice-isn't-mature-enough" people wrong!! No one will make fun of you, they'll be amazed of you skill! :D [ fish34's advice column | Ask fish34 A Question ]
Basketball3846 answered Sunday February 5 2006, 8:36 pm: I'd say go for it! This is your chance to shine and people will definatly remember it for years to come and will see how mature you are to be singing something completely different. I think this sounds like an awesome idea and if I were you, I would do it in a heartbeat!! [ Basketball3846's advice column | Ask Basketball3846 A Question ]
