Ok, I have PCOS, and more hair than normal is a symptom, but there are other symptoms as well. For example, being overweight, excess hair, somewhat bad to horrible acne, and really abnormal periods. I don't have all the symptoms but I do hav PCOS, so I suggest you go to your gynecologist and get things worked out, soon, otherwise things could get kinda messy for you later in life. good luck, and best wishes. If you eed to talk about it, my e-mail is on my advice column. ]
The fact that you don't state that you have excess hair growth anywhere else - legs, face for example - indicates that you do not have any underlying condition such as a hormonal disturbance. It is likely that this is genetic - that you were born with the feature of being able to produce this hair growth. The only potentially permanent solutions other than routine hair removal might be cosmetic surgery involving the use of laser treatment. ]
Is the excess hair your only symptom or do you have others as well? PCOS is generally accompanied by other symptoms as well. You need to be checked out by your family doctor or gynecologist to know for sure. I suggest going as soon as possible because if you do have it, it may lead to some problems if left untreated. It is treatable, but needs to be treated by a doctor. Prescription medication may be necessary. I'm including a couple links to sites with information for you to read.

Yes its treatable. But you do need to go to the docter, so go there.. Get it checked out. And they'll solve it. its pretty easy. ]
I don't know anything about this illness, but Google has an amazing amount of information. If you had trouble finding any, it may be because you were mis-spelling the name:
It isn't curable, but it is treatable. A quick review of the medications that are used to treat it seems to indicate that they're all prescription drugs; they involve hormones, for the most part. Common birth control pills are sometimes prescribed.
But you really need to speak to your doctor or OB/GYN about this issue. It would be a big mistake to try to self-medicate - that's an easy way to really mess yourself up. For one thing, you might not even HAVE polycystic ovary syndrome!
Please see your doctor. ]
