And Saint Gasoline, "And if God DOES change men into perfect beings when they enter heaven, how is that compatible with God's supposed gift of free will? If free will is so valuable, why would God ultimately deny it in favor of perfection?"
The only people who will be getting into heaven are the ones who CHOSE to accept Jesus as their lord and savior.
And most of the christian holidays were placed to coincide with pagan holidays by the early catholic church to discourage the drinking and orgies that usually took place on said holidays.

The judgement for believers will be awards for what the did with their lives to serve God. Those who did not accept Jesus, wait in hell for their judgement of punishment. At the end of the world, those who trusted God go to heaven and those who did not trust God are "cast into the lake of fire".
The theif on the cross next to Jesus believed Jesus to be the Savior and was saved........
Luk 23:42-43 And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." And he [Jesus]said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."
Once the person's spirit leaves their body, they are in the presence of the Lord. Like stated about, that presence is wonderful for those who believed as this verse states...........
2Co 5:6-8 So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
This is a good one.........
Luk 16:22-26 The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.' But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.'
