grades.

Question Posted Monday January 23 2006, 9:06 pm

My GPA is a 4.1 something, and I am very proud. But this semester, I'm taking an AP class and it's extremely difficult. I don't know if I can even pass and I'm getting worried. Please answer the following questions:

1) Is getting a D bad?
2) Is failing one class bad?

I know that I'm not aiming for a D nor an F, but I'm just wondering. Please don't be mean or discouraging, yet be honest, too...=(

if your trying as hard as you can its not bad. if its the AP class your failing... maybe taking it again would do some good so you can understand it better the second time. just a thought. hope i helped. good luck with everything.

Getting a D can be discouraging, but if you always look for any extra credit opportunity and you can bring up a D then i think that you will be ok. If you are failing a class i would consider on stop taking AP clases and go back to regular classes, but if you really think that u can do it and you give it your all and you try as hard as you can then i think that you will do just fine in an AP class even if you get C's. So Good Luck!!

depends on the grade and the class. but if you get a D you dont get AP credit. failing 1 class wont kill you, especially with such a high GPA. i wouldnt worry too much, but you shoiuld definitely try for at least a C so you can get the AP credit.

i think that if you try hard enough.. most likely you will not get a D or an F. usually that means you put forth no effort whatsoever. but if you are trying your best, you will make the grade you deserve. and you will have the satisfaction of knowing you did your best.

Getting a low grade isn't "bad". I'm not sure how you're parents would feel about an F but as long as you are doing your best in the class they should understand that you are working hard in a very difficult class. One low grade isn't going to lower your GPA by much. If you think that your grade is low, maybe you could talk to your teacher about what you can do to bring your grade up a little.

I was in the same situation as you during my junior year. I failed one semester of AP Physics and was scared that it would ruin my chances of getting into college. Though it brought my GPA down slightly, I still got into a lot of colleges. As long as you don't make a habit of it, I say it's not a huge deal. Hope I could help.

ap classes aren't bad...but if you get a D its like getting a C really so yeah it'll bring you're gpa down...and if you fail you dont get the AP credit so it pulls down your gpa for nothing. i can probobly help you more if you said which ap class it was?

hmm i've heard thats kinda hard...but not too bad you can at least pull off a b. but next year or w/e i would def take ap us history its sooooo easy. but as long as you study an dstuff you should be fine. o an id get the dbq down early it will help your grade

AP classes take awhile to get used to, and most people will get C's & D's while in them. This is not because they're dumb or anything, if it was a normal class, they'd be getting A's. Getting C's or D's in AP classes is like getting an A basically, that's how my teacher explains it. Or she says to add 10 points to your grade, because in reality that's how it would be. (If you weren't in AP) Failing a class isn't that bad, I don't know how your parents view that, but it really isn't that bad, because the class is much harder than the average student is taking, good luck girl!
