How to lose weight

Question Posted Monday January 23 2006, 9:03 pm

I am 5'9'' and I weigh 160 pounds. I lift weights, and have been going to the gym, but I have an awful habit of eating. Whenever I am near food, I go crazy, and eat everything in sight. Is there some mental exercise I can do to help this? And how many pounds should I try to lose?

Chewing gum is not the answer. There is a new method though. I saw it on the news.
First, here's an explination of the gum chewing.

The gum thing is still debatable though, you can try it if you want.

Now, the trick is to put a lot of sugar in a glass of water. Drink it, and soon after, you will lose your hunger. I don't remember the science mumbo jumbo behind it, but it really works.

Well you're really not that over weight, I'm 6' and weigh 170. And if you're a teenager then your metabolism is really high any way which causes you to need to eat more. If it really bothers you, chew gum whenever you get the munchies.

hi

Well as far as i can see you are of a perfectly healthy weight but if you feel you need to lose some you shouldn't try to starve your self, just eat and apple instead of a packet of crisps or whatever. Next time you find yourself reaching for a snack just reach for some ice cold water it will fill you up and keep you occupied and will not add on the extra calories snacks do.or if as a final resort next time you feel hungry do something creative to take your mind off food shuch as drawing or tiding your room.

Chew gum to keep your mouth occupied. Don't keep snacks at home so you won't be so tempted, and so if you want to eat something you'll at least have to get out of the house to buy it.

Also, whole grains and vegetables keep you full for longer, so eat more of those for your normal meals, and avoid sweets because they give you an energy spike and then you'll be hungry again quickly. Drinking more water also keeps you full.

Your body mass index is within the healthy range, and if you lift weights, chances are that a lot of your weight is muscle, so you don't really need to lose weight, so don't try to lose too much.
