Dry Skin on Face

Question Posted Sunday January 22 2006, 11:55 pm

During winter, my face gets a little bit of dry skin on my forehead and near my eyebrows. Is there any way to deal with this without making my skin oily? Thx <3

i found this at www.bathandbodyworks.com. it seems perfect for what you are looking for. (good face moisturizer, without adding oil.) you can order it online or find it in the stores.

I'm pretty sure that Clearasil makes a kind of medicated lotion that will moisturize the dry skin but at the same time it has the medication so oil and pimples can't surface.

It looks like this:

Hope that helps and your local store has it in supply.

Hey i have this problem.. I use this facial stuff from Mary Kay called Velocity.. It works great and makes your face not oily and extremely soft in my opinion.. It costs a bit of money it cost like 22 dollars for the cleanser and mousturizor.. But it lasts 6 to 8 months depending how often you use it and how much.. You can look it up on www.Marykay.com if you`d like.. ♥Dez

I have this same problem every winter. In fact, someone commented the other week that I must have been out in the sun too much because my face was peeling.

First, I would suggest making sure you're drinking enough water. It works by providing moisture from the inside out. Second, when you get out of the shower and your skin is still damp, take a clean, dry washcloth and gently rub your face. It will help to loosen the dry skin and also improve circulation. Third, try to limit face-washing. It can strip needed oils from your skin, making it more dry than before. I've found that a once daily face-wash works well without drying out my skin too much. Last, use a moisturizer daily. I use Aveeno Positively Radiant. I apply it after I shower at night and again in the morning before I go out.

You could water down "Sorbolene", it's a petrolatum based soap-alternative which can be used as a moisturiser. It's oily before you water it down, but your skin absobs it VERY quickly, so you could get away with rubbing a little in, then wiping off the excess.
Another thing I would reccomend, which isn't at all oily, is Aloe Vera gel. It's a gel made from a plant which has various healing properties including ones beneficial for pimples, and dry skin. Unfortunately for winter, it tends to give a chilling sensation on the skin when applied. I suggested Sorbolene because it doesn't do that.

Keeping warm can stop chill from causing your skin to dry out, but also your dry skin could be caused by things that keep you warm in winter. I don't know where you live, so I'm not sure what keeps you warm. Air-conditioning tends to dry the air, which could cause skin dryness, as can sitting next to a rediant heat source such as a fire, or a bar radiator. Perhaps avoiding radiators, or trying to shield your face from them would help.

If moisturising creams don't work, then go to your local pharmacy and ask them about it.
