Vitamin E Gelcaps?

Question Posted Monday January 16 2006, 12:04 pm

Is it safe to break open Vitamin E gel filled capsules to put the gel onto scars to help them fade? Vitamin E is supposed to help with that, and I've heard that rubbing the gel on the scars is good, but I've also heard that breaking open any sort of pill is bad for you. Any insight on this?

Yes, it is safe to break open Vitamin E capsules. Capsules filled with vitamins aren't pills. Some pills are safe to break, or meant to be broken, by the way.

I would not. Buy vitamin E that says it is made to go on your pretty face.

Yes its fine, in fact its very effective. Be sure to also take some Vitamin E capsules daily also in addition to rubbing them on scars. Be careful with taking too much Vitamin E as it is a fat-soluble vitamin and can be stored when not used and when you ingest too much it can cause toxicity of the vitamin. Just follow the bottle directions. Taking in plenty of water will also help speed the process of fading the scars.
