exercise

Question Posted Sunday January 15 2006, 6:02 pm

I'm 13 years old, and a really tiny person, and I think it's good for me to start exercising---now don't get me wrong, I don't think I'm fat or anything, but I just think it's a good idea to move my muscles. But I hate sports of all kinds. Is there anything I can do at home BESIDES push-ups and sit-ups/crunches?

I'm just like you! I'm tiny..but i'm not thin. Well, I know you said you don't like sports, but I totally think you should try dance (if this is a girl). I'm a dancer and my dance studio doesn't ONLY do dance. During our dance classes we have to stretch, which includes lunges, splits, sit-ups the whoole shebang. After that we dance. Dancing is so much more exercise than most people think. My best friend used to be really chubby, but gained muscle when she started dance. Its great! If you're a guy...try running. My dad is a runner and he loves it.

Walking. Going around your neighborhood is best, unless you have an unfriendly neighborhood. Start out small and try to work up to a mile. Do this every day. Lift weights also.

Why not join a gym and lift some weights? The atmmosphere is ideal and you can meet like minded people.

uhh yes and know.. those are your best options.. but really not many. do you like yoga? i know yoga is really good at working your stomach muscles and yet its relaxing. personally i dont think you need to work out.. (im guess you are a girl) most woman dont need to really work out until after they have children or once they get into their late 20s early 30s. also your body is prob not ready yet for adult workouts so make sure you talk to your doctor or a trainer to see what works best for you and your body.
