for girls- when ever i get my period i am fine during the day - my pads NEVER leak. however, when i go to bed, they very often do. it seems as though the pad just doesn't protect the back of my underwear for some reason...but only when i lie down! how can i prvent this...i have the kind of pads with wings, so i can't put it much farther back, can i? i know there are longer pads made, but is there anything i can do to prevent leaks for now with the pads i have? (i have tampons too, but isn't sleeping with them in too long of a itme period to keep the same one in?) anyways, what can i do? thanks!

DancinCutie08 answered Monday January 9 2006, 7:58 pm: omg the same thing happens to me. what i do is use my moms pads to sleep in because they are little longer and more absorbant... i know it makes you feel like an old lady but it works! also if you wear thongs to be dont! wearing granny panties are much more leak proof. also change your pad literally right before you go to bed and if you can get up right in the middle of the night to check. if you get less than 8 hours of sleep on school nights like most of us do you can wear a tampon too! it wont kill you but i dont recommend it unless the other things didnt work. janelle<3 answered Monday January 9 2006, 7:47 pm: hey! dont worry this is sooo common, a way i help prevent it is maybe wear a bigger pair of underware and maybe wear to underware one going up higher in the back it works for me
XoSimply_SweetOx answered Monday January 9 2006, 7:41 pm: you could always wear a tampon...some people say that it's the better than pads but i think that's just a form of opinion but back to your question, when wake up in the middle of the night you could always change them or you could choose a tampon according to your blood flow...so it dosen't leak...however if you have tried any of these advice and nothing iss working be sure to but a towel under you when you go to sleep so when you wake-up and it your tampon/pad does leak all you have to do is wash the towel because washing a towel is easier than washing your bed sheets. Hope i helped! [ XoSimply_SweetOx's advice column | Ask XoSimply_SweetOx A Question ]
orphans answered Monday January 9 2006, 7:37 pm: i leak very heavily at night too. right before you go to bed, put on a new one, so that it will stop some leaking. also use big pads.and also do NOT sleep with tampons in. it is extremely dangerous. there are some pads that are overnight, so i suggest using those [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
Mackenzie answered Monday January 9 2006, 6:47 pm: I would say you're best if you just use two pads, extending the entire length of your.. 'bottomage', if ya know what I mean. [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
tasuki answered Monday January 9 2006, 6:45 pm: If you put a tampon in right before you go to bed and take it out right when you wake up you should be fine, however it is still risky. You might oversleep. I used to have the same problem, when I had periods (I don't anymore because of personal reasons, so please don't ask), and I would just have to wash the blankets and sheets all the time. The only thing that worked was wearing the longer pads, unfortunately. [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]
