in need of a friend
Hey i am 14f, who is kinda poor, and i go to a very rich school. i dont really have a best friend.. or really any friends that i hang out with after school. i really just wish that i had a best friend and someone that i could talk to besides my mom. im really nice, pretty and outgoing and im friends with a lot of people in school, but they dont seem to want to do things with me on the weekend either. boys dont seem to like me very often either, but before that i just want a friend, and i have been very depressed latly.. grrrr .please help.

wild stab in the dark, but have you ever tried NOT trying to make friends, or being overly friendly...know sounds weird but that was the mistake i made at school, just be yourself, don't be prone for attention, people seem to catch it like a bad smell.
Please yourself first. Happy people attract other happy people.

i think that to make friends, you need to put yourself out there in people. like join a club where you can put in ideas and have fun and help, so that people can get to know you better and see how cool you are. you could do anything like that where your bound to a group of people, you could join in gymnastics or get on the basketball team or be in dance. just put yourself out there and talk to people. they cant get to know you if you dont tell them about you ya know? good luck, i hope you find some wonderful friends :)

I have that same problem. i'm from the inner city, and we dont have alot of money, and all the girls at my school do! i dont have any friends that hang out with me after school, my advice is that you just talk more to people and let them see the real side of you that you know they dont really get to see.. thats all i cant really say, but i hope maybe that gives you an idea about how to make some new friends.. I am 13/f and my names mollie but everybody calls me daphne. so you can call me that too. I am a really good friend (i know im bragging). But if you want a real friend...well those are really hard to find :( but you know what they say "you gotta be a frien to make a friend" so just try being nice to people, treating others the way you would want to be treated. i mean their might be kids in your school who feel the same way. and try getting involved with after-school programs, clubs, band anything really i am shure you will find somebody soon but if not send me a Q in my inbox...we can be online buds, lol :) well happy new year!

you'll definately find friends soon. don't worry about the whole 'rich, poor' thing. i mean i know what you're thinking, usually people that go to rich schools may be stuck up, but if they're your true friend they won't care how much money you have. juss try being nice to people, be outgoing, talk to them, maybe ask if they wanna hang out, etc. if you're in classes with them it'll probably be easier to talk to them & stuff. maybe they can introduce you to guys & all. you never know, you could get a really good friend & a really great bf before the school years over. don't give up, juss be yourself & they'll like you for you.
