As far as the sweating goes, this used to be a big problem for me also, so I know how you feel. Oh yes, I've definitely been there, and it's not good. I reccommend using an antiperspirant deodorant [such as Suave], followed by regular baby powder. The antiperspirant helps to reduce sweating, or at least is said to, but in our case... never does. Then the baby powder will close the pores of your under arm -- more or less trapping the sweat in, so to speak. Honestly, this almost ALWAYS works for me, but there *ARE* days when it's simply not good enough, and that can be a pain in the butt, so I usually make a point of carrying some sort of jacket. Hearing that, there's this product people are always talking about on this site [but I believe that's from "Monkey See, Monkey Do"], but it's even advertised on television. It's called CertainDri. Now, they say it can be purchased at Wal-greens, RiteAid, CVS, and Walmart, however, EVERY SINGLE TIME I've been to the store looking for it, I've never seen it on the shelves. Naturally, this leads me to ask an employee where I can find it, and they *always* tell me they've NEVER heard of it, and they do not carry the product... which just leaves you speechless and with a feeling of, 'what now?' If the problem persists, perhaps you should consult a physician, who can supply you with proper medication. Also, he can give you shots that kind of close up your pores, so sweating never really happens again. I'm not shore if that's an option for you, but I recommend asking him for more information.

About the whole weight issue, you say it bothers you, and I'm sorry to hear that. Not to sound insensitive, but that's just life. We all have our insecurities, and that just so happens to be one of yours. For what it's worth, I bet you anything you're just being too hard on yourself. Whether you agree with me or not, the good thing is, if you truly want to change that, you can. Losing weight is hardly a piece of cake, but with some dedication you CAN do it!! If you're serious about this, I can try to offer some tips I've picked up along the way.

And what better place to start than the work out routine, right? A few good activities that can simply assist in porportioning the body in it's ENTIRTY would be anything that gets the blood circulation goin', such as: jogging, jumping jacks, jumping rope, walking, and bicycle riding. Also, if you have access to a heated pool, water aerobics work like a charm!!

And if you'd like to target your tummy specifically, try doing a couple hundred sit ups or crunches. I know, I know, I know.. "a couple hundred' SEEMS like a lot, but if you break it up into sessions, it's not that difficult, I promise.

For directions on doing a correct crunch, check out:

To tone your butt and thighs, do leg lifts. To do these, stand up straight, and slowly move your leg -ONLY YOUR LEG- backwards. Like, say you're going to kick something, but kick BARKWARDS, and DON'T BEND YOUR KNEES!! Make sense???

To tone your arms, take two dum bells [whichever weight works for you is fine, but keep in mind that a light challenge is great]. Hold one in each hand, while sitting up straight with your feet shoulder-width apart, flat on the floor. Extend both arms out to each side of your body, and bend your elbows [just as if you're flexing both arms at the same time]. Then slowly at the same time, raise both arms up straight into the air, and bring them slowly back down into the flexing postion to the right and left of your body, understand? Try doing this about 10-30 minutes a day, and you'll see a gigantic difference in a week or two! And trust me, there's almost no better feeling than self improvement!!!

Also, providing you cut out the extremely unhealthy foods, such as white bread [substitute it with wheat], cake products, ice cream, hamburgers, and soda, you'll notice a significant amount of weight loss within the first few weeks, alone.

You can find lists of healthy foods at:

As you probably already know, it's best to eat several small portions a day; but this does not mean to "starve" yourself. Say, have an apple and a piece of cheese, two hours later have a few crakers, and an hour later have one piece of wheat toast, and so on and so forth, ya know??? And those are just some snack ideas. When it comes to solid meals, you don't really have to cut out much. Just take in moderation. Little intakes of food like that gives your body time to digest it properly. You see how that's better than eating one or two huge meals a day?? Because then it would take too long to catch up, and your bodyy will not be able to burn the calories quickly enough; so it just quits, adding body fat.

Of course you must realize that weight loss takes time. I can't really say how long it will take; I suppose that differs from person to person. It really just depends on how much weight you're looking to shed. I'd say you could lose 10 to 20 pounds within the first month; that's very possible [seeing as how a good portion of that 10-20 pounds will be water weight].

You just have to stay committed, and strive to keep up the drive. Some tips: just try to keep yourself busy, and sleep as often as possible. Those things keep your mind off of food.

Sure it seems like you're giving up so much, but think about what you will be gaining if you feel better about yourself?? That's the best damned grand prize you'll EVER find! (=

Think about this: People look good, in what fits them. So dont get something TOO tight, or too baggy. Wear something you feel makes you look good. As for the sweating, Been there! You MIGHT have what I have. It is called hyperhydrosis. Hyperhydrosis means that you have overactive sweatglands. Go to your dermatologist and they might prescribe you something called Aluminum Chloride. That is a tube of liquid you put on under your arms and it dry's out your sweatglands. It's awesome. I used to use but I moved onto a heavier thing. Its a pill that dries out your whole body. It doesnt hurt or anything. Your mouth just gets dry in the morning lol. But if it's not that, Ban and Certain Dry work good for most. Good luck. Anymore questions? IM me at gre3neyedxgirlx3 xO ali. If you wear make up, or want to start, go to JCPenny or The Body Shop and ask for them to give you a make over and then buy the things they use. And if you dont use make-up, a natural face can be pretty =)

cheburashka answered Thursday December 22 2005, 12:19 pm:
well, don't worry about boys. you might not attract crouds of them now, but think of it as a strainer - the ones who are attracted to you see you the way you are and they like you for the funny, smart girl that i'm sure you are, and one day you'll find the right guy. and being overweight might not even have anything to do with it, i'm a skinny girl and i didn't get my first kiss or go on my first date until my freshman year in college (which is now, btw). just be open and let people see who you are on the inside.
also, just because you're overweight, doesn't mean you're unatractive. i think a person's face is the most important part. ask your mom if you could start wearing make-up and experiment with that. try to do some cute things to your hair, maybe go to a hair solon and get a new haircut, get some highlights, just whatever you like.
also, try exersising. i'm not saying you should exersise to lose weight, but it may make you feel better overall. it's good for your health and if you do lose a few pounds, that'd be great. don't feel pressured to lose weight, but if you think it would make you feel better about yourself, try some work-outs.
sweating problem... well, you could try guys deodorant, but you might not want to smell like a guy, lol. go to you doctor and ask what's the most powerful antiperspirant that you could use.
hope that helped

susana answered Thursday December 22 2005, 11:52 am:
I know it's not easy to lose weight, and when you say you're 14, I'm not really sure if you ARE overweight because so many girls/women have a VERY skewed view of themselves due to our society's "demand" for SKINNY people! I hate that!! It is such an unhealthy attitude.

I can relate to you being self conscious about your bust size. Get this: I had to start wearing a bra when I was nine years old! Oh my, the teasing I got was horrible. Talk about feeling self conscious. And, I wasn't overweight so it was especially noticeable. For one thing, you're at a stage right now where you will find that you'll more than likely begin to "grow into" your breasts. Too often they are the first part of the girl's body to grow when we are in puberty and moving out of it. Just make sure you wear a good supportive bra and DON'T hunch over, trying to hide the fact that you have large breasts. I've seen too many girls/women do that due to self consciousness and they end up with such poor posture and bad backs along with low self-esteem. One comment on large breasts is that I'm wondering if they are large enough to already be giving you some back trouble? I ask this because if you're experiencing pain in your back, this is NOT good and you should seek the advice of a doctor. More often than not, insurance will cover a slight breast reduction for girls or women who have medical problems due to enlarged breasts.

With a sweating problem, there are several things you can do. 1) try changing deodorants - even try an unscented men's deodorant; 2) talk to your doctor about this in case there is actually a problem with your sweat glands; 3) for blouses with sleeves you can buy light-weight, cotton underarm pads that absorb a lot of sweat and that fit onto the body by a narrow strap that goes over the shoulder - usually found in lingerie departments; and, 4) wear darker clothing so that sweat stains don't show up as much.

As far as clothes go:
You can wear loose-fitting (not baggy) jeans - there are several brands out there that make stretchy waistbands (NOT elastic) that still have a zipper and button. Levi's is one company that makes these and they look just like regular jeans. Not only do they have a stretchy material for the waistband, but the material for the entire garment is a special kind that stretches a little and makes the fit more comfortable. They're made in small, medium and larger sizes, so this is not something just for people with a weight problem. They're great because they allow for freedom of movement that most jeans don't necessarily allow. You can buy a loose-fitting (again, not baggy) sweater that doesn't cling to your body like so many styles these days. Wearing a sweater that is straight-lined and comes down past your rear-end might be something you'd like to try. It can give you a sleak look when worn with nice fitting jeans or even stretch pants. If you wear stretch pants, always wear a long straight-lined blouse/shirt/sweater that is made of a material that flows when you walk (that doesn't exactly work with a sweater, but it will with the other two). Buy solid colors and accessorize with fun jewelry and/or long, slinky scarves. Or, buy wonderfully vibrant colors that are NOT in horizontal stripes, big flowers, or any big design. You can also probably find some very chic skirts that are more A-lined (straight, but not too straight and narrow) instead of gathered at the waist. Again, you can wear a longish top that will come down and flow around the skirt in a way that won't add "weight" on you. Keep the material as light as you can, not bulky.

Look at yourself in the mirror every day and tell yourself that you're beautiful! If you've told yourself for a long time that you're not and you believe that boys don't like you, then of course you've come to believe that. Why then wouldn't saying positive things about yourself over and over not do the same thing? At first it may feel odd, but you'll get used to it and eventually begin to believe it. I'm a stickler about posture and if you can hold your head high, not slouch into yourself, and smile often, you will feel better about yourself and this great energy will then radiate from you and other people will get caught up in the good energy. Believe me when I say that works wonders! Try not to focus so much on whether or not boys like you. I know that's so important, especially at your age. But you need to realize that you're a beautiful person INSIDE before anyone else can see that. And when you believe in that beauty within, you will also radiate that beauty on the outside.

Developing self confidence takes work, but it's worth it and I believe since you've asked for advice and you want to change, that it WILL happen for you! Just keep reminding yourself how wonderful, special and beautiful you are. Put notes on your mirrors, computer, bedroom door, anywhere to help you to remember to focus on these POSITIVE thoughts.

Good luck to you! I just bet you'll look smashing when you start using that creative, strong inner power within us all to change your attitude and your style.

ok, well about the sweating, try some good antipersperant, and if that doesn't work, ask your parents if you can go see a doctor. don't worry about having big boobs, no one really makes a big deal about it if they're big, just if they're really small ;) but not really. don't sweat it (pardon the pun). If you're looking for cute clothes, try abercrombie, american eagle, aeropastel, or forever 21. target isn't bad, either.

As for confidence, smile a lot, walk with your head up, and have a little swagger. talk to a lot of people. just go up to people that look that they'd be nice and just say hi and talk about random funny stuff. there's nothing to it. good luck with that honey!
