What should I put?

Question Posted Thursday December 15 2005, 10:33 pm

I am applying for a job and the question on the application is:

Why are you interested in working for Dots?
(clothing store)

Okay, somethings I can say about me is that I am extremely outgoing friendly and helpful.... so how can I like put that in the answer making it sound professional?

And I used to work at Six Flags Astroworld at the front gate, I opened and closed the park, greeting and meeting all the guests that came it... mabye this will help too!

I rate! :) Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated!

I am extremely outgoing and I am very people-friendly. I think this job would be a great experience for me. I have also had some additional experience before, also. I worked at Six Flags Astroworld for (however long.) I opened and closed the theme park, greeting every guest that entered.

I've been to a lot of job interviews, and I've also taken a course on questions that employers are likely to ask potential employees.

The best and most professional way to answer the question, before talking about yourself, is to butter up the company. What I mean is you should do research on the company, so when you answer the question, "why are you interested in working at dots", I would say something along the lines of: I am interested at working at dots because of the excellent reputation your company has. I have always been a regular customer at your store because of the outstanding service and always feel very welcome.
Then I would start talking about yourself, maybe say something like: I believe I would be a valuable asset to your company. My experience working at the Six Flag Astroworld helped me to deal with customers in a calm and pleasant manner, while at the same time keeping up with it's fast paced environment. Thankyou for your consideration,
sincerely,
(your name).
I wrote something similar on my cover letter once and it got me my current job!
Good Luck to you.

You can say:
In my Previous job I was around people all day, and loving everyminute of it. I am a people person, I am also friendly and kind. Not to sure how much that helped.

You could say something to the effect of you enjoy being around people and you want a job that you can interact and help them find exactly what they want. You could also throw in that you like the clothing as an added little touch.
