Bodybuilding inducing aggression depression and paranoia nor
Question Posted Thursday December 15 2005, 12:26 pm
Ok people i aint here to be ripped and i aint talking rubbish but im 16 male and started bodybuilding and cycling 3 months ago and do it every day cuz i got told i 'aint buff' and keep being called 'midget' by my peers (only 5'8" you see), but i have noticed im increaasing becoming paranoid and aggressive and feel like making holes in walls defacing people and i get nasty headaches and im always tense. I thought working out and exercising was meant to do the opposite, so is it this or do i have an exceptional case caused by another(serious?) problem. Am i going insane?

MikeCFT answered Sunday January 1 2006, 6:48 pm: Everyone blames aggression on steroids, steroids really don't make anyone have "Roid Rage". Trust me. If you are an asshole before you work out and use the sauce then you're going to be an asshole while you take them. Simple as that. Mostly the aggression from most sauce users comes from them wanting to have that feeling of invincibility and just blaming it on the steroids. Exercise is supposed to relax you since it increases the secretion of Endorphins (Happy hormones) from the brain. This problem is a pre-existing condition. If you are indeed on the sauce...don't blame aggression on it because you aren't fooling people who know what steroids are like (I haven't used a cycle of steroids in my life and don't plan on it, but I know and train all too many users and can speak from experience). Wouldn't hurt to have it checked out. [ MikeCFT's advice column | Ask MikeCFT A Question ]

HerHairsBig answered Friday December 16 2005, 12:33 am: Excercise should be done every other day, or every 2 days.
If you just started out, I'd suggest taking it slow.
You can't expect fantastic results in a small amount of time (although TV ads beg to differ).
I try only working out 4 or 5 times a week instead of 7.
Take the extra days off to relax your muscles, or do something less strenuous on your body, like walking, or doing situps in your house.
Part of getting "buff" is eating right also.
You can't just work out continually and eat chips and sweets everyday.
You'll only burn off the junk you ate, and nothing else.
It's like a cycle, you burn off what you eat.
But if you eat the right way, you have less to burn off, making it easier to get straight to the muscle building.
As it gets easier to bodybuild, add more days onto your week until you're able to work out everyday.
You just gotta take it slow, darling. [ HerHairsBig's advice column | Ask HerHairsBig A Question ]
kevin1986 answered Thursday December 15 2005, 11:32 pm: Are you taking steroids or anything else unnatural? If so, these probably have a lot to do with your hormone levels, specifically ones that affect your mood. This explains your anger. You may always be tense because you feel like working out is something you HAVE to do and if you don't, you'll be looked down upon. The drugs, if you're taking any, could also be having an affect on your headaches. Working out is supposed to ease your tension, but this doesn't mean people who work out never have stress. You may have a deeper problem if you are not taking drugs and need to see a doctor. [ kevin1986's advice column | Ask kevin1986 A Question ]

pinkpanther92 answered Thursday December 15 2005, 4:37 pm: no your not insane your probably just used to people calling you those things so when they start to call you those things just try to ignore them or try to imagine that they are saying good things about you when they are saying those things [ pinkpanther92's advice column | Ask pinkpanther92 A Question ]
brunettebarbie answered Thursday December 15 2005, 4:01 pm: excercising creates endorfins and endorfins make people happy, maybe your creating too many endorfins and there "contradicting" themselves and making you depressed try working out every other day and they may balance themselves. by the way, 5'8" is pretty tall.

margarita_luvs_ya answered Thursday December 15 2005, 2:47 pm: Sometimes people get really competative in what they do. And will be annoyed at anything that bothers them or gets in the way. Try to have time to do other things you like and time to relax. You're probably just really stressed over somting else...school? friends? sports? family? Body building is probably just taking your anger out but don't over do it. [ margarita_luvs_ya's advice column | Ask margarita_luvs_ya A Question ]
karenR answered Thursday December 15 2005, 2:29 pm: Please don't take this the wrong way.
You aren't taking steroids are you? I ask because they have been known to cause the symptoms you are having. So, if you are. That is the cause.
Other than that I have never heard of bodybuilding causing any of those problems. If it continues, you may want to check with your doctor. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
