Question Posted Monday November 28 2005, 7:50 pm

Okay.. I really like this guy, but he is the most popular guy in our grade! I know I have not much of a chance with him. A school dance is coming up this Friday Night, and I want to dance with him so bad, but I am too afraid to ask. My friends say they'll help me, but I know I'll just chicken out!! What should I do?

Everyone has a chance. The more confident you are, the better your chances. If you're going to hide in the corner at the dance all night, then you're right, your chances will be slim to none. Don't get your friends to help you in the sense that they ask you for him. Ask them to encourage you to ask him & give you a shove in the right direction if you get nervous. Just go for it! If he's a nice guy, which he must be if you like him, I doubt he'll be rude even if he says no. It's better to suffer a little humiliation rather than regret not asking him & always wonder "what if?" Good luck!

I have been in your situation before on both sides of the fence, being the one to be asked, and doing the asking. Neither experience was great for me 'cause I wanted to dance w/ the guy I went with, and the guy I wanted to dance w/ at another dance didn't want to dance w/ me...But it's always great when friends can help...that would probably be the best way...don't have a bunch of friends at once. Just have a couple girls or guys even go up to him and say "hey, you should dance w/..." and then see what he says. He may not agree to it, but I'd rather ask then never know...(when I was a sophomore, I wanted to go to the dance w/ this guy who was a couple years older than me at another school, but I was afraid to ask him, then later I found out he would have gone w/ me...)Good luck and I hope I helped!

Just ask the guy hun lol. the worst he can do is say no and yeah you might feel bad for a while but if you dont ask him then you will never know what he might have said. so just have confidence when you ask him. guys like that

You don't know that you don't have a chance with him. Everyone has a chance with at least everyone :) So if you're too afraid to ask him yourself ((which would be better if you did)) then just get your friends to do it for you. And, if he says yes- then yay you'll have a date. But if he says no- don't stress over it, you can just go with your friends. :)
