Tryin' 2 lose weight

Question Posted Tuesday November 22 2005, 7:52 pm

I want to lose weight but I can't seem to do so. I can have my mind set on anything except not eating so much food. Can someone please help me so that I can lose weight and gain muscle before the new year.

I answered to a question like before. So I hope you don't mind, I'm just going to copy & paste.

Well, I was really overweight to begin with, and I was made fun of, ALL THE TIME. So, it was pretty easy for me to shed a lot of weight, because of how much I wanted to show all the people who made fun of me for like five years that I could do it.I don't know if you're overweight or if you're just interested in shedding a few pounds. But, if you DO get picked on. You know how much it can potentially hurt you. And getting made fun of from 4th grade to 9th grade about your weight, by everyone including your friends & having no one to stick up for you really DOES suck. Even my family members: my Grandmother would call all the time, living in England she never sees me, and only met me once when I was ten [when I started gaining weight] Would ask my parents if they're doing anything to control my weight, yet. & Would tell me my sisters call me fat behind my back and told her & she was just wondering if I lost any weight yet. I was TEN!! That's the worst part about it. Anyways, basically from that paragraph, I meant that you need self confidence in yourself first. You need to literally stand in front of a mirror and pick out things you like about yourself, just to lose weight. As stupid as that sounds. It works.

Well, basically when I wanted to start losing weight, it was seriously impossible. I was 15, living in a stupidass small town consisting of 700 people. With nothing but a movie store, grocery store, & a pizza shop. NO attractions like where I could exercise or anything. So, I decided to stay in the house & try out Pilates & Tae bo. Don't get me wrong, they both worked greatly. I felt great after exercising. I was eating different portions and everything. Drinking diet drinks. But, I wasn't losing ANY weight at all. I was actually gaining. That's when my rents decided to take me to a nutrionist! They told me I had an oversized uhh shiit I forget what it's called. But, it's something in your throat, that controls your weight, height, and just about everything else. If I remember, I'll leave it in here later. I'll have to ask my parents what it's called. Anyways, since it was oversized that's why I couldn't lose weight to start with. So, I started taking pills that automatically made them smaller. Which caused me to lose 10 pounds to start off with. I don't count that with the 30 pounds I lost myself though, because I didn't lose that 10 pounds myself which sucks.

Now, it was really hard for me to lose weight at the beginning because I was just beginning & I was embarassed to run in front of everyone, even my family. So, I'd wake up everyday at like 4am & go running down the main street I lived on. I came from a shitty ass small town. So when I see Main Street - I mean a street that connects us to ANOTHER small crappy town. So, there wouldn't be any cars that would pass, which would be awesome. :) I stopped drinking soda for one, I just drank water all the time. 10 glasses a day :) Awesome. I didn't eat fast foods anymore. Like McDonalds, which was horrible because I loved McDonalds. :( I wouldn't even get their salads. lol. It was awful. I didn't have to worry about not eating candy & chocolate anymore, because I didn't eat it anyways. I just don't have a sweet tooth anyways. :P

I would have four small meals, a day. I'd wake up & have a bagel. Go to school - @ lunch I'd have a turkey sandwich, when I'd get home I'd have like cereal or something. Then at dinner time I'd have something else small, like chicken or tuna. That helped. Because, eating 4/5 opposed to 3 meals a day can speed up your metabolism. & Helps a lot when wanting to lose weight.

When I moved to this huge city, San Antonio. I knew I'd have to keep up the weight loss, so I joined a gym! It's been helping me a lot, now. Plus, I met a really good friend at the gym who's pretty much been in the same situation as me. And I'm helping her through it :)

To lose that 10 pounds from the pills, it took me about 4 days. But, the other 30, I'd have to say it took me 2 months. I lost about 15 pounds a month. Which is actually pretty good. Seen as I lost about 3-4 pounds a week.

My advice to you, if you're serious about losing weight. You really really really need to see a doctor about it. My doctor helped me SO much with weight loss, and I seriously wouldn't have been able to do it without her. You need to diet, portionize your meals & stop drinking soda & fatty foods. Start exercising, if it's only running around your house, or doing a video exercising program thing. See if you get results from it.

Good luck with losing weight, and seriously YOU can do it. I'm sorry if I forget anything, or if there's anything else you need.

Run. A lot. Also, play 'Eye of the Tiger' 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Works like a charm.

I love you,
