ok so my moms going into operation tomorrow. and its not a big one. but im just scared cause she told me you can die over the littlest ones too. and im really worried.. what can i do to get my mind off of everything?
happy-helper answered Thursday November 10 2005, 1:29 pm: Clear your mind, think to yourself that you're being silly and that she won't die. I over-react too with things like that too. It'll be all over and done with and she'll be fine, I'm sure.
Stay strong for her! :)

Dr_Chad answered Wednesday November 9 2005, 6:17 pm: It's only natural to be anxious when a loved one undergoes general anesthesia. You probably won't be able to take your mind off the operation until it's over, which is only one day away.
Very, very few people die under general anesthesia. The hospital is required to inform your mother of the risks involved, but you shouldn't confuse possibility with probability. It's possible a plane will crash into your house, but it's also highly unlikely. So it goes for your mom. She's going to be just fine. [ Dr_Chad's advice column | Ask Dr_Chad A Question ]
BlueEyedBlondie725 answered Wednesday November 9 2005, 6:10 pm: Hey sweetie.
If you don't mind me asking. What kind of surgery does she need to get?
Your mom will be okay. My mom has gone through a lot of operations.. two of the surgeries she's gone through, has been in her brain. And those are very risky, and she's survived both of them. If that makes you alittle better knowing that. Any surgery you get, is risky. But, so many people come out of surgery fine! It's just a doctor basically has to say that because if something were to happen, people could sue them saying "well you didn't tell me this was possible.. blah blah blah" kind of thing. When my mom was getting surgery though, things that got off my mind was actually going to school and getting away from everything, hanging out with my friends, listening to music, enjoying things I liked to do. Try to think positive things, like "well when she gets out of the hospital, we'll go shopping" or "go out to lunch" or something like that. You could also try running or reading a magazine or what not. Just things you do in your every day life, that you like to do, is going to get your mind off of it a little bit. But, tell me how it goes please and if you still need help, just leave another message in my inbox. If you need to talk about it or anything, I'm here for you also! You're mom is in my prayers! ♥

RockStoleMySoul answered Wednesday November 9 2005, 5:57 pm: First off darling: With EVERY operation, even a root canal, their is always a chance of dying. Getting too much anethesia could kill you. Yes, you know that fact, but how often does that happen? RARELY. Really darling, stop worrying yourself over this. Listen to some music, write stuff, pray if you need to.
Pray for peace and serenity, and if you don't believe in god. Try a nice bath.
MissAdvice answered Wednesday November 9 2005, 5:56 pm: Hi,
well first of all i wish your mom a fast and speedy recovary. I know that it can be very scary. The best thing that you can be is strong for you and your mom. Don't let your mom know that u are worried because then she might be too. The best thing that you can do is to do things that keep your mind off of the operation. go out, watch movies, go on the computer...keep a good attitude. i hope everything turns out fine..
iiluvpiink15 answered Wednesday November 9 2005, 5:43 pm: hi!!
well all you have to do is just do something else to keep your mind off it. go out with friends,go to the mall, play games, read a magazine,do a crossword puzzle,AIM people. anything that will get you mind off it and just think positivly. She will be fine and keep in touch and find out hows shes doing, but im sure she wil be fine and just think when the operation is done she will be feeling much better. so pray and keep in touch with the doctors/hospital and im sure you and her will be just fine!!!!
Hope i helped
