Belongings after a break up

Question Posted Sunday October 23 2005, 1:36 pm

My girlfriend and I have been split up for 3 wks. We went out 4 times this week and its almost like we're together again. She has a $250 digital camara and printer that she gave me for Christmas, she says they're hers. Last night we had a stupid fight in the car and I took the camara from the compartment next to the seat. She tried to snatch it from me, but I took it anyways. I'm just wondering if I was so wrong for doing that? or if she is wrong for trying to take back something she gave me?

Technically she gave them to you for Christmas, therefore they are yours not hers.

personally when i am in a realtionship and who ever i am with gives me gifts and when or realtionship ends i personaly give them back so that i dont feel like i used them to get something that i want. i dont know why you would want it if ever time you look at it will remind of what you had and what you cant hve anymore. if you really want to keep it my suggestion is to give her the money for it or go get yourself another one.

Well she did buy it and that could be a lot of money for her...but she did give it to you...so I'll keep it unless you feel guilty about it.

You weren't wrong for doing that. If it was a gift, she can't take it back.

It was wrong of her to try to take back something she gave to you, if she was going to want it eventually, why give it to you in the first place?

So, she was the one at fault. She bought it FOR YOU. Not for herself. She needs to grow up and get over it.
