Here is a site that I hope will have some answers for you. :)
BunnyxAblaze answered Friday October 7 2005, 10:54 pm: Whatever you do please do not hurt yourself i'm begging you there are way too many people out there that care about you for you to be doing anyhting to cause pain to yourself. I have ended up in the hospital too many times to count on both my hands because of cutting trust me i know it seems like it helps in a way but think about the people who would be hurt if they found out and don't even say no one because everyone has someone who really cares for them be smart. Try running that's what i do i run and when i run i feel like i'm running from all my problems it really helps try something that you ahve a passion for if you do something you love you won't have time for anything like that. Just please don't do anything to hurt yourself anymore. Think of all those people who love you and that you love it should be enough. [ BunnyxAblaze's advice column | Ask BunnyxAblaze A Question ]
sillyrob answered Friday October 7 2005, 10:40 pm: Seek professional help. Cutting isn't healthy, it either shows you have some deep mental problems, or you just listen to too much emo music. Either way, you shouldn't go on like this. [ sillyrob's advice column | Ask sillyrob A Question ]
sbloemeke answered Friday October 7 2005, 10:09 pm: Cutting is a physical addiction. Now, you may immediately think me insane for saying that, but please hear me out. There is a reason why pain disappears. It's morphine. Your body makes morphine every time you feel pain. And, like all drugs, it becomes highly addicting if used in high doses. That's what happens with cutting. That is the good feeling you get, and why it feels good.
However, drugs such as morphine cannot be controlled by using less of it. The rubber band does not work for that specific reason. It's a little of a drug, and that makes you crave more. Writing alone will not cure you either, as it will do nothing to the addiction.
All you need to do to get away from cutting is to stop. Yes, that's saying so little. Let me explain. You stop, just for 1 day. Yes, it is hard to do. Now, whenever you feel like you are going to cut, THAT is when you use the alternatives. I hear a lot of people complaining that alternatives don't work. Alternatives don't work if you use them alone to heal you. They do work in emergency situation. I don't know when you cut, but sadness is calmed with a bath, anger is through punching something (Inanimate, please. :P), and a desire to see blood is calmed by taking a red pen and drawing all over yourself.
Reward yourself the next day. That may be by baking and eating a cake, or by going shopping. Anything non-cut related that makes you happy. Oh, and if you are thinking "Eat cake! No way, that'll put 20 pounds on me!", listen. Weight is secondary in all cutting cases. Cutting is physically dangerous at immediate levels. Weight gain is not. I'd favor breaking the habit.
Then, tell someone. Be it a friend (Friends tend to not be too good, as they rarely understand), a teacher, an adult, your parents (Yeah right...), or even your sister, they'll listen. It'll get a lot off your chest, and ask them to help you.
Then, find a group of people to support your every emergency. That's us here. :) We'll answer all questions. At least I will when it concerns cutting.

Courteney answered Friday October 7 2005, 9:38 pm: Ok, you have to stop cutting yourself, i know people who do it and it's not good. You need to find someone to talk about things with. If you talk to someone you'll feel a lot better. I actually think that talking would be a whole lot more stress relieving and deffinetly less painful and dangerous. SakuraSong answered Friday October 7 2005, 9:21 pm: Oh, cutting is addiction. I had that for a month, and quit because, well, the alcoholic stinging wore off.
Here's what you do:
Wake up when it's light, but before the sun's rizen.
Go out, and make sure to dress warmly.
Breathe in the cold, almost cutting air.
Feel the wind.
It sounds corny, but hey, it works. The air makes you feel better about yourself. It hurts abit, because it's COLD AIR, but it don't hurt your body as much. No one's up that early, so you can cry if you want to. [ SakuraSong's advice column | Ask SakuraSong A Question ]
