Egg Drop Project

Question Posted Sunday October 2 2005, 12:18 pm

Hey, for Pyschics in my class we're doing an Egg Drop Project. It's where you take an egg and drop it from 30 ft. And the egg can't break. The only thing we can use on our egg is sticks (that are smaller than popsicle sticks), 1 balloon, and 1 rubberband. (Or 2 rubberbands/2 balloons) And the egg has to be raw, and nothing can be at the bottom of the drop to help it. My question is, does anyone have any idea how I could design this, so that it doesn't break? Because if the egg breaks I'm pretty much screwed.

K thanks.

um, i dont know if this would work ,but it sounds like it would, get the egg inside the baloon, (it can be done) then blow it up a bit, but not all the way, then tie the sticks in an x shape where the end of the balloon , secured by the rubberband, that should help it not fall so fast, i hope it works, let me know.

make it like a hot air balloon. Make a basket thingie out of the sticks, then connect the basket thingie to a BLOWN UP balloon, with the rubber bands. then put the egg into the basket thingie! :)

Blow up the balloon and put the egg in it and put the rubber bands around the balloon so it won't pop as easily.

they did this on full house, but they were able to use anything. umm ive enver done this, but what i would do put the egg inside the balloon, but out it on top of the sticks. can you use glue? if you can then glue the sticks to the bottom of the egg and then place it inside the balloon. if that doesnt work, then build a cage sorta thing out of the sticks and hold the sticks together with two rubber bands and then put the in the balloon, or wrap the egg in the balloon before you build the cage around it. i hope im not confusing you lol. hope i helped!

I saw this on Full House one time!!! It was sooooo cool! I don't remember how they did it but I remember a shoe was involved! Oh... but you can't use shoes... Try making it a little support area so that it doesn't go wild, you know, sort of shaped like a bed with a canopy. As for not breaking on the sticks, you could make a water balloon with the egg inside! That would be pretty cool, then the water would cushion it! And then put that water balloon inside the other balloon! Hope I helped!
