HAIR! Okay, so my mother is allergic to everything except like...20 items total on this planet, and is extremely against all forms of chemicals such as nail polish and hair dye.
HOWEVER...
My roommate got a free salon-type-thing from her boyfriend, and on it, it says you can bring a friend, so we kinda decided she was bringing me...Lol. So we're getting our hair done this weekend.
I'm thinking
Thinned, re-layered, Cut a liiiiiiiiittle longer than shoulder length (or exactly shoulder length, not sure), side-sweeping bangs.
Now here's the hard part.
I kinda wanna get highlights. I'm thinking brownish red highlights 'cause I do have red in my hair.
My mother, however, would MURDER me if she saw highlights in my hair or knew that I borrowed my roomie's shampoo to see what effect scent had on my hair.
What do you guys think I should do? Should I get highlights anyway and beg them to make them as not-noticeable as possible? Or forego the highlights and possible making-worse of hair until I'm far away in grad school?
Should I ask them if they have temporary dye so I can see what they look like?
Opinions, please. ^_^

if you have a roomate you most likely are old enough to live by your own rules and you don't live with your mom. your mom wouldn't be around all the time and would probaly not even see them unless she looked extremely hard, that is if they look natural. i would say go for it if you're living out on your own why not live by your own rules.

get highlights anyway and make them as not noticeable as possible and wear your hair in a bun around your mom a lot. or a half pony tail. good luck ]
i think you shold go ahead and do it. your old enough to make your own dessions. no make them how you want them to look.

I think you should ask for the temporary die, just so you can see what it will look like. If you don't like it then its not there forever, and if you do, talk to your mom about it. good luck

well highlights are permaent but try to get sumthing that matchs your ahir well so its not noticable and dotncare what she thinks if you want to you can she cant control you all your life. ]
Wait how old are you again and you listen to your mom about a hair cut? Do what you want. You don't tell your mom how to do her hair. ]
If you have a roomate, you don't live with your mother right?
Highlights really aren't that big of a deal, because sometimes you can barely notice them, and it's not like you're dying your hair an extreme colour.
And your mother wouldn't be coming in contact with the highlights, so what does it matter?
Anyways, good luck with it, and I hope the highlights turn out gorgeous!

It doesn't sound like you live with your mom, so you shouldn't really have to worry about her. ]
