Please only answer this question if you know a lot about singing and have musical knowledge. Thanks!
I've been singing for about 3-4 years now, and I've always been an Alto (I'm a female, by the way).
My voice isn't that great though (in my opinion), even though I've been singing for a long time.
I have a vibrato (For those of you that don't know, that's when your voice shakes a bit when you sing. I can control it, though). My question is, is there any way I can improve my voice and make it higher, like to a second Soprano?
XxKaTiExLeIgHxX answered Wednesday September 28 2005, 4:38 pm: I have been singing all my life, and What worked for me, is that i practiced alot and each time id try to sing harder songs and songs with higher notes, i even practiced when i was sick. Try to slowely go higher, even if you have to sing softly and then once you reach the highest you can get, sing a little louder and louder and louder and eventually youll get higher..I was a low alto and not im a soprano, so it worked for me, hopefully it will work for you, and dont drink soda or milk or anything, dairy and fizzy drinks affect your voice, drink water or flavored water. You could even get singing lessons if you wanted. But you dont have to be a soprano to sound good, altos sound great too...but just keep working at it.. I hope I helped! good luck.. maria2653 answered Saturday September 24 2005, 10:29 pm: i take voice lessons.(im not saying that to be like 'oh im better than you') but any way, i take voice lessons and there is no way to make your voice higher unless you sing notes as high as yu can and every day try to get it higher. its called stretching your voice. you could also taking voice lessons and ask your instructor/teacher. good luck [ maria2653's advice column | Ask maria2653 A Question ]
sbloemeke answered Saturday September 24 2005, 8:13 pm: Practice, Practice, Practice. That's what I learned when I tried to make the transition from 1st bass to 2nd bass. You need to practice to get the notes.
Yet how do you do that? What I found was when I practiced singly mainly in the lower register, I hit the lower notes a lot better. I did speed scales (Trombone thing. You go Bb-C-D-Eb-F-Eb-D-C-Bb 3 times really fast, and then do the same thing, only starting on the C-F-Bb-F-Bb-C until you go down.) in my lowest register, and sang a lot of really low tunes a third or 4th lower than written. Do it to your highest notes. Eventually, after a week or two, your voice become accustomed to the levels, and you can get higher than those notes. Although I did lower. :)

rikatree2375 answered Saturday September 24 2005, 7:35 pm: Well, i'm a violinist but my sister sings so i know what you're talking about. She's always been a soprano but she's developed her range over the years. Range is like how low you can go to how high. She also has a voice teacher so if you dont, i'd really encourage you to get one. They can give you certain songs that are going to stretch your range. And you should try certain warm-ups just like scales, ya know??? Push it a little more each day to see how high you can go without it sounding like squeaky. Do that every day and your range will get higher and more developed, stronger. So try to get the voice teacher and do the warm-ups. You can even make ones up as long as you push it. I hope i helped and any more musical questions, i'd love to answer.
