okay this is kind of messed up but my friend and i were arguing about if chess was a board game i say its not its more of a board game or something you do for a hobby he thinks the opposite

but if you play it sometimes, and like just for fun, not like "if i dont win this game, i'll break my 204 winning streak for toady"
then thats just a board game'

Chess, checkers, mancala, monopoly, chutes and ladders, clue, sorry, stratego... these are all board games. Board games can be very simple or they can be fiercely complex (like chess).
