TI-82

Question Posted Friday September 16 2005, 1:53 pm

One of my dad's friends gave me a Texas Instruments TI-82 graphing calculator but no user guide to go along with it. I was doing some math homework and one of the equations had a base number then a exponent of 3. On the calculator I can only find the button to make the exponentto be a 2, how do I tell the calculator I want the number to the third power, besides typing in the number 3 times. thanks for any help and yes I did go to the product site and look at the user guide but it didn't help

All you have to do is type the number you want to the third power, and then ^3. There's a button that looks like this: ^ and then just press the number 3 and press enter.

Use the carat button which loks like this: ^
For example 2^3 would be 2 to the third power or 4^5 would be 4 to the 5th power.

Good Luck
I hope this helps

if you put in your calulator like 5^6 that would mean 5 to the 6th, 8^9 would be 8 to the ninth power...etc.

I believe there is a key that looks like "^". Type 4^3, or whatever it is, and the calculater reads it 4 to the third.

You know the carrot symbol? Shift-six on your computer? ^ Well that's calculator language for "to the power of" so for example 7 to the 8th power on the calculator is 7^8.

Also: there should be a 2nd function button on your calculator, in the upper-left corner? Press that to activate the smaller symbols above the buttons, and that way you should be able to get the X cubed button! Hope I helped!

Okay, on the calculator you should find a button that has a symbol like this ^. So here's an example. 3x4^3. All you have to do is put ^ and then the number of the exponent. (i had a hard time figuring it out too when I got my TI-84, I'm not one to look at the guide. hehe)

Hope this helped.
