What is Epilepsy? Causes? Symptoms? Signs? And what is it's relation with demonic possession. I heard some people say a person is demon possessed or it could be explained that they have epilepsy because the symptoms are the same?...

Its real that the diagnosis is epilepsy. But the causes are not an organic disease. I had once a long term of this epelipsy. It started when I was 7 years old. after about a year it started with my younger sister too. I used to take the epilepsy treatments for about 4 years. and it became worse. I was hating that medicine called tegretol. after I take it I fell asleep. and then it starts. because it starts when i fell sleep. It was about once a week or tow week. after taking this medication it became about 3 times a night. so I went to an exorcism. then it stoped and I relieved. that was when I was 13 years old. even the medical treatments didnt help me. when it stopped with me it stopped either with my sisters, although that they didnt take any kind of treatment. but the thing which was possessing me were making my epilepsy and my sisters either through me.
this is my opinion!!! [ white_soul's advice column | Ask white_soul A Question ]

A person with epilepsy has had more than two seizures that have no reasonable explanation. For example, blood sugar or fever can cause a seizure. A seizure is caused by a charge of electrical activity that hits the brain. It may affect the entire brain or just one part.
People with epilepsy are in no way possesed by demons! That is simply an ancient myth. Anceint doctors (and still doctors today!) don't really understand epilepsy, so the ancient ones just proposed that they were "possesed".
You also don't have to be born with epilepsy. People who suffer sever head injuries may develop epilepsy.
Epilepsy cannot simply be "cured", some people may opt for surgery to remove damaged parts of the brain. For others, they simply go through life on different medications. However, in alot of cases the seizures may just go away with time, (im really hoping for that outcome!)
AlienHumanologist answered Tuesday September 13 2005, 7:39 pm: Epilepsy appears to still be something of a mystery among Earth scientists. Epilepsy is a disorder of the brain. Symptoms include seizures, muscle spasms and jerks, black-outs, periods of missing memory, etc.
I am surprised to discover that epilepsy is still sometimes mistaken for demonic possession among the ignorant. Originally, this was an error caused by unsophisticated people attempting to explain a complex and mysterious disease many centuries ago. Now that human science has developed a better answer, the concept of demon possession should be discarded. [ AlienHumanologist's advice column | Ask AlienHumanologist A Question ]

Scribble answered Tuesday September 13 2005, 6:58 am: The website recommended by sassycat is v. good but I think I have some information that may be related to your question. A lot of epileptics have their symptoms 'triggered' by various events- a lot of people react badly to bright or strobe lighting. This could lead to to seizures occuring in the same place or time, hinting at demonic possession. Some aspects of epilepsy can also be linked with mood altering drugs (although I have no proof of this, I'm SURE my brother's epilepsy was brought on or exacerbated by use of cannabis). So in some cases a person's seizures could be parrallel to a change in their personality, which I suppose could also be construed as a sign of unholy inhabitance. Be safe. tasuki answered Tuesday September 13 2005, 5:38 am: It makes you have ceisures. Look it up on webmd.com for details. I know that you are born with epilepsy, because my uncle was. And it has nothing to do with demonic possession because demons do not exist and even if they did, they would be friendly and not possess people. Props for spelling "possession" correctly, though.
Sassycat911 answered Tuesday September 13 2005, 4:24 am: My niece has epilepsy. In now way is she demonic possessed.
Epilepsy is a symptom that the way a person's brain works is sometimes disrupted. When this happens, a person may suddenly have a seizure. Many people will have a single seizure at some time in their lives, but this does not mean that they have epilepsy. If a person has epilepsy it means they have had more than one seizure that began in the brain.
