Question Posted Tuesday September 6 2005, 10:22 pm
ok, i'm in 8th grade and i'm in the orchestra and i play volleyball. next year i was really hoping to participate in the Marching Band in pit. but during school i think that orchestra and band meet at the same time, and then volleyball practice is after school but thats also when band practice is... so i dunno which to choose! i can do an extra volleyball thing besides school, but i dunno about band vs. orchestra... i was also planning on moving to a different high school in 10-12 grade for orchestra...

Andyou coudl talk to the coach of the volley ball team and see if there is something you can work out. Most people in the pit in band play a string instrument and compete on their own at UIL cometions so you can do both you just can't really perform with the orchestra unless you work something out. It has been done before but iono in your case. All I can really say is that I loved my marching experience and wouldnt trade it for anything. Hon, as much as you love it all and want to do it all you cannot be that commited and that stressed. You need to back out of all of that--leave stuff alone for a bit and discover what you like more and what takes the least amount of time.
First, knock out the marching band as that will
take too much of your time. It seems you are bent on doing music. You can knock out the orchestra and take private lessons and all kinds of masters classes and get ahead of those guys on your own when you can go.
As for volleyball if this makes you the most friends and puts new people in your life do it. If not put it aside, focus on your homework and having fun. You should be involved in only 1 activity at school to keep it balanced. [ GDROB's advice column | Ask GDROB A Question ]
