GDROB answered Tuesday September 6 2005, 11:28 pm: The biggest question I need to ask you is have you been tossing your cookies every day and or night? Big important question to tell me and tell others in your life. The reason is simple, if you are vomiting it and or pills back up you have a problem and will get dehydrated like I did last week and require an IV to put back the fluids in you. Any weight loss all of that needs to be documented.
Also, it is very important to point out to your family where the pain is coming from and not hide the fact it has been there either a short or long time. The reason is we have to figure out if your
pain is the stomach, sides, front, back as you have an Apendix--useless little organ that can burst if not taken out.
What do I want you to do? Take a barf bag with you just incase and go to Emergency. Establish that it is not your Apendix and ask the gastro-instestinal doctor to find out what it is. It may take a few hours and they may give you an IV for eating.
They will want to try and figure out if it is a
Galblatter problem, lactose intolerant (don't laugh it can be all of a sudden an issue,) ulcer or stomach inflammation. Likely, they'll give you gravol to be able to eat small amounts and an IV and observe you overnight.
These also are not menstrual pains so yes, I'm being serious go to emergency they see this all the time.
What might happen is if your stomach cannot tolerate certain foods a special diet will be given to you. Also, one more thing try and remember what foods caused the pain. This is key in knowing what you infact can never eat again. Greasy foods? Junk? what? Pasta sauces do it for a lot of people.
Why am I telling you so much? The answer is simply 2 weeks ago I was in the same situation. I was given an IV and stomach acids and after this week
it will be fine but again say goodbye to Pizza, Icecream, spices, sauces and hello to a fricken load of rice dishes. My God I did not think you could do all that with rice, lean beef, other things like Jello and crackers etc. [ GDROB's advice column | Ask GDROB A Question ]
