I have the same thing. You need to use a special shampoo, one that is recomended from your skin doctor. I use T-Gel Shampoo, but your skin doctor might want you to use something else (if it gets really bad and itchy). ]
well, what you can do is by t-sal it is at wal_mart I had the same thing happen to me I had a scalp and when ever I colmed my hair some of it would come out with white stuff I went to the hair appointment and the lady said you need to go to walmart and buy some t-sal or if you go to tgf and they have it there to or they might have somthing different
hope my advice helps and if you have any questions you can email me at

Lamma - well i'm not entirely sure whta the scabs are, but i wouldnt worry too much about it. the white stuff though, i do know about cuz i have it sometimes, and it comes from using the same shampoo/conditioner for a long period of time. to get it to go away, use a clarifying/cleansing shampoo once a week (its really strong stuff though, so use lots of conditioner afterward!) and that should get rid of all the stuff on your head. Back to Basics has some really good stuff of that. Also to help get rid of it, switch shampoos after the bottles gone. Like if you finish your bottle of Suave, try Pantete Pro-V or something. That always works for me!!
Hope i helped, and feel free to ask a q in the future!
GOod Luck,

My cousin says it's because of dried conditioner... try not to condition the top of your head- just the ends. Don't use so much conditioner and rinse it for longer!
hope i helped! ]
i think its just skin ive had the same prob. the only way to treat it is to srub your head better when you wash it ]
There is a possibility that it is dandruff. Sometimes your scalp will become so dry that it cracks (thus the scabs) and the white stuff is dead skin. There is also a possibility that it is shampoo build up. I know that sounds icky, but there is a possibility. Before my sister really knew how to wash her hair, she'd only be able to rinse some of the shampoo out. The shampoo would dry on her scalp, and dry her scalp out (scabs) and if she scratched her head, there was white stuff under her nails. The same thing could happen with conditioner. Make sure to scrub your head REALLY good and rinse it out extremely well. Perhaps use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, but don't leave it in longer than the bottle says to. Make sure to get all of the shampoo and conditioner out of your hair, and rinse with cold water. [I mean as cold as you can absolutely stand it. It's better for your hair] If things don't get better, talk to your hairdresser. He'll / she'll know what's going on.

Actually, it is dandruf. Best way to treat it buy head and shoulders. Sometimes your scalp gets SO dry that it starts to crack and you'll get scabs (Like you said) and the white stuff is dead skin- Also known as dandruf. Head and shoulders really moisturizes your scalp so that it takes off all the dead skin and leaves your scalp dead skin free. ]
this happened to me before. i went to the dermatologist for it. and its like some sort of severe dry skin, its weird. but like, i got this shampoo called selsun blue, the moisturizing kind and this other kind t-gel (i think its netrogena)i also had to use this overnight stuff the dermatologist gave me, but just try the different shampoos and if they dont work go to the dermatologist.
