how does weed affect your health? I mean, can you get lung cancer from it? What illnesses can you get if you're a pothead?

Well. you can get a lot of illnesses. For example is you over do it you could die. Or if you get stonned then you can lose control of your self. They are just like cigaretts you can get many different cancers (mouth,lung,etc.) you can also get ulsurs. So for your health don't take weed or help someone take weed!

Yeah, you can get lung cancer. And pot can also kill brain cells. Basically, everything that happens to you if you smoke cigarettes can happen to someone who smokes weed.
1 joint = 3 cigarettes (healthwise)

There's some answer to a question about drug testing in my collumn if you want something long about it, but the worst health affect is probably on your brain. Brain development is completely screwed up by THC, and the weed around today is like hundreds of times stronger than what was around when your parents might have smoked it, which means that it's WAY too strong... Anyway, unless you're like 30 years old, smoking weed will screw up your brain development, and it won't work propperly for the rest of your life. Apart from that, wel actually part of that, includes bad psychological health. My father works as a Psych nurse, and probably over 90% of the people he gets on the ward with shizophrenia are dopeheads. It's a big cause of psychosis, so I'd steer clear. Get your kicks from something that doesn't involve drugs, and if you're COMPLETELY determined to do a drug, choose something remotely, ever so slightly safer, like extasy or something. Don't take extasy either. If you aren't addicted to anything already, keep it that way, if your friends are druggies and they try to pull you in to it, I hope you're smart enough to call them stoners and tell them to piss off. Anyway;

-K

the following is directly from an extremely helpful website..check it out for more information on marijuana

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

Cancer
It’s hard to know for sure whether regular marijuana use causes cancer. But it is known that marijuana contains some of the same, and sometimes even more, of the cancer-causing chemicals found in tobacco smoke. Studies show that someone who smokes five joints per day may be taking in as many cancer-causing chemicals as someone who smokes a full pack of cigarettes every day (15) .

Lungs and airways
People who smoke marijuana often develop the same kinds of breathing problems that cigarette smokers have: coughing and wheezing. They tend to have more chest colds than nonusers. They are also at greater risk of getting lung infections like pneumonia.

Immune system
Animal studies have found that THC can damage the cells and tissues in the body that help protect against disease. When the immune cells are weakened you are more likely to get sick.
