Question Posted Thursday August 18 2005, 8:57 pm

Does anybody know of any spiritual books that will change my life drastically for the better? I am specifically looking for something that will boost my self-esteem and turn me into an optomist.

Very good question indeed. I know what books 'did it' for me, but of course you're not me. My suggestion to you would be to visit your favorite metaphysical store or a bookstore with a new age or metaphysical section and just walk around in that section, perhaps a book will jump off the shelt at you... I'd strongly urge you to look into that book. Or perhaps you'll be drawn to a book on the shelf for whatever reason. My first encounter with such books came when I was in such a store and a woman came running in to get a certain copy of a book. Well of course that brought my immediate attention to that book which I purchased and it was like stepping on a 'cosmic fast forward button'.... my life was for ever changed and in an awesome and most humbling way. And then when you read these special books, don't try to leftbrain it, but go into with the thought that you'll take into your reality only those parts that feel deeply right to you and you'll release all the rest until a later date when the parts that don't feel right may change and shift and you'll find truth in those parts at that time. Go at it(your search) with an openmind and a willingness to see beyond what others around you may wish you to 'see'. Go within yourself, for there are your real answers, they have always been there, and shall always be there.... but it takes quiet time, silence and much stillness to 'tune it' that inner wisdom center..... blessings for success in your search! Believe and it shall be.

yes, theres this one book i read in 5th grade and i loved it i literally could not put it down, its the little pilgrims progress or the orignal (minus the litte) its a great book, its about turst and the journey to find whats empty in your heart, but if you really want to find christ try going to a different church, the congragation should welcome you and make you feel at home in a place witha bunch of people you dont know but yet you still feel like you belong. its really a great feeling HOPE I HELPED!!

i dont no of any books of that sort....sorry. but what REALLLLY works for me is the quote from the movie 'hitch'...its deep...but amazing for self esteem. "wake up every morning like its on purpose"...i wake up and tell myself '2day is gonna be a good day im gonna be happy and smile no matter what' and that works for me too. just savor every moment...life is too short to be going thru it being a pesimist. thats no fun. you'll find that the only person who can ultimately make YOU happy is YOU!!!! and you have to allow yourself to be happy as well. if you dont want to be happy...you wont be. and if you think 'this day is gonna be bad and boring and depressing'...it probably will be. so allow yourself to be happy and SMILE!!!!

Believe it or not, crack open an NIV (New International Version) Bible. Not going to get all religious on you-- but you'll be surprised as to what you may find. Start in the chapter of John if you do decide to go ahead with it.

Good Luck!
