Uhm, you can't just "be Gothic". You either ARE.. or ARE NOT. Being "Gothic" isn't about what you wear. It doesn't matter WHAT you wear. "Gothic" is a feeling.. a lifestyle.. NOT AN OUTFIT.

If it matters THAT much to you... save lunch money. If you're not willing to do this, then that's your problem. And if you just aren't GIVEN lunch money, ask for allowance and start mowing lawns...

my bro is 11 and hes "goth"... he gets a black shirt everytime he gets the chance. save up any allowance you get and buy stuff when your out with friends (dont go all psyco on me like that one girl did, i know you cant drive!) you could go goth but not quite as drastically. wear black but no overdone make up or stuff like that. keep it simple. i know how hard it is to talk to parents...when they wanna buy you something, ask for whatever you like...not the ae polo they want you to wear. eventually when they cant buy you anything, youll outgrow your prep slothes and they will have no choice but to get you what you want. try ripping old tshirts/band tshirts and stuff like that in the mean time. youre still 13, youve got time to become who you want to be. <3

Well, if you don't get along that well with your parents, you could always talk to a grandparent or older sibling/cousin if you have them. You could ask them to take you somewhere and ask them to buy it for you if you have an upcoming birthday. Even though you don't get along with your parents, you could always tell them that clothes explain your personality and that you don't like those style of clothes. Im sure your grandparents would understand that its not your style. Honestly, i think your parents are scared your going to get really gothic like the boys from My Chemical Romance and she doesnt want you looking like that. If nothing else, you could gradually start turning goth... start with the change in shoes, the black belts with metal, NIghtmare before Christmas shirts... etc. Just dont make it to extreme. Hope I helped and if I didnt, you can drop one in my inbox!

In my opinion i think theyare going through a hard time realizing your a teenager and you see things ur own way and want to be ore independent and tha teens want to be themselves so i advise you to write a letter or talk to her in person saying that you are not going to change the way you act towards her or your friends or the way you are in school justyour apearance and act on it. Just keep in mind that if she nelects you or doesn't approve that she doesn't realize your evolving from always going to her to keeping a distance from her. if you dont think she this is the reason the alternative is that she doent to be seen with the way you dress in front of other people.
hop i helped, Chitch

Wow. First of all, despite what Anyone else on here says, there is no such thing as a Goth, unless you are referring to the 16th century tribes. I think you need to get your facts straight before you dress "gothicly" You shouldn't consider your style gothic, prep, skater, whatever. The point is that people who call themselves goth are fake, and people should only be theirselves, they don't have to fit into a certain category. But if you like heavy metal/ punk rock (good charlotte doesnt count haha), then I guess you could wear band tees and stuff. 13 is definitely Not too young to take an interest in punk rock, because I've loved it since I was 11. No heres the part where I actually help you:

1.Try making a compromise with your parents. Like you will do chores to earn your Own Money to buy the clothes.

or

2. tell them that you are taking an interest in punk rock/heavy metal music and that you have the right to like what you want to and dress how you want to, that it is not Their choice to make, but it is yours.

Hot Topic has some good band tees by the way, depending on what bands you like. You can also order off the website.

ok, if you really believe thats who you are then go for it. if i were you i'd talk to your friends about it and see if they can help you out, but for starters you don't need to buy anything to be gothic. juss talk to ur friends. if that doesn't work then maybe you need a job.
