HectorJr answered Wednesday August 10 2005, 8:36 pm: Been there. Started before 3rd grade. My knuckles are huge and rock solid. But anyways, make sure you drink a lot of milk. Set a timer for yourself. Start off by saying: ok I won't crack my knuckles for 10 minutes. Then go for 20. 30. Keep doing that until you can get to an hour or even more. Eventually, they might hurt after not cracking them for so long. That's ok. But the pain will stop you from wanting to crack your knuckles. Good luck. BlackBeltxO answered Tuesday August 9 2005, 8:03 pm: You cant really make them smaller. But habits are all in your head. Take a look at your hands, if you arent happy with how they are looking... then that should be enough reason to resist cracking them. Its all in your head so just try to find something that will distract you personally. I must admit... ive been trying to find something to help me stop... and i cant... so let me know if you do. =) [ BlackBeltxO's advice column | Ask BlackBeltxO A Question ]
Azngangsta answered Monday August 8 2005, 5:50 pm: If you're a dude, then cracking your fingers isn't a bad thing. Because your knuckles are bigger, you'll be able to throw a harder punch. Also, cracking your knuckles isn't a bad thing. It's actually good. It releases the calcium deposits in your knuckles. That's why if you wait a long time without cracking your knuckles and then crack them, it'll hurt. Just a suggestion. If you don't want to crack your knuckles anymore, just listen to the guys who answered before me. [ Azngangsta's advice column | Ask Azngangsta A Question ]
azngemini answered Monday August 8 2005, 4:07 pm: i used to crack my knuckles all the time, but i stopped. i dont think there's anyway for you to make your knuckles smaller, i kno a way to stop it.. kind of. if you dont crack your knuckles for a while, like a few days or a couple of weeks, the next time you crack them, it will totally hurt and it will be really hard to crack your knuckles. that's how i stopped cracking my knuckles. so you just have to try your best to stop cracking them for a few days or so, like make yourself busy so you wont have time to crack your knuckles, and you'll get over your habit
anne_givings answered Monday August 8 2005, 4:03 pm: okay so ya know how some people put ribbons or pretty strings on their fingers to remember things? well i put on ribbon on the forefinger of each of my hands to remember not to crack my knuckles-- now i only do it during tests when my hands get cramped from writing... just knowing you could have huge ugly knuckles if you do it too much for too long!!!
hope it helps!

nerdqueen13 answered Monday August 8 2005, 3:01 pm: well, i cant tell you how to make them smaller, but i can tell you, i had the same problem, and i hated how everyone looked at me when i started popping my joints. because i diddnt just pop my knuckles. i popped my wrists, my elbows, my ankles, my neck, and my back. so...everytime i started popping anything, i tried snapping myself with a rubberband, but that diddnt work so well, (i have high pain tolerance) but then, i would just start streching instead of popping, and i would feel better afterwards. ;-) [ nerdqueen13's advice column | Ask nerdqueen13 A Question ]
catoblepas answered Monday August 8 2005, 2:57 pm: Hello there... Well I have that very same habit... plus my ankles which sometimes crack big time. I once asked a doctor if that habit could be harmful and he denied it, so I have kept on doing that ever since. Nevertheless, you should always ask a doctor first; maybe you have seen something develop that could indicate a problem. Hope this helped! [ catoblepas's advice column | Ask catoblepas A Question ]
karenR answered Monday August 8 2005, 2:38 pm: If you have big knuckles it is probably something you inherited from your parents. Crackin' those knuckles may not be a great habit to have, but it has no affect on the size of your knuckles. [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
