I hate myself. Does anyone have any ideas to stop a persons perceptions of things, or path of thinking change? I dont beleive in any kind of religion and i beleive that there is no reason to anything and that life and existance in general is just so pointless. If people live to be happy and content, yet are mainly overcome by other stronger emotions such as pain and anger what is the point of living? there is no afterlife its just nothing. why be afraid of something you wont be aware of. why bother searching for peace of mind which you already know you will never get. each and everyone of us are unique so no one is. no one will remember me when i die because i have had no impact upon anyone. i have achieved nothing and have had nothing able to be achieved because of how many billions of people in the world that are better then me. nothing has meaning me running around in an endless circle compared to going to school and learning are of about the same value. .. should i get help?
Additional info, added Friday August 5 2005, 12:09 am: ..ok, this isnt a self pity thing rather than me being angry at everything, because of how useless and pointless it is. there is no point to living so there for no point to achieving things. why are you people trying to tell me that i can accomplish something when any being from birth cannot accomplish anything because everything is already pointless.
i'm tired of living, tired of feeling. . Want to answer more questions in the Health & Fitness category? I dont' think that you can tell me that throughout your whole life you never helped someone, accomplished something, or made someone feel good. you have your own talents and you should be proud of them. nobody has the perfect life...id ont have a boyfriend, my friends are not always there for me, and every once and a while i'll cry because i hate my life, but you should know that none of this means that living is pointless. There is only one of you on this earth and that means that no one else can feel, accomplish, or think the same way you do....that makes you a lot better than who you think you are and you should try to show that person so others can know that you're an amazing person [ autumn's advice column | Ask autumn A Question ]

margarita_luvs_ya answered Friday August 5 2005, 6:42 pm: Ok what I can understand that either you have had a n identity lost and I'm not talking about credit cards things but a real one. Yoiu feel lost, alone, no point of living. Try seeing a doctor they have medication for this or if you don't wanna do drugs see a psycatrist and talk about it. Writing things or talking it to some one always help.
If this isn't the case then Ibelieve somewhere in your life maybe more recently something has happened a death perhaps? or something relatively close. You can't keep this all in yourself. Please talk to someone or at least write it down. If you don't believe in a god that's ok. Just talk like your talking to yourself and if there is a God he will hear you. Don't give up faith...Good Luck. [ margarita_luvs_ya's advice column | Ask margarita_luvs_ya A Question ]

You seem like a very interesting person, and I would very much like to talk to you on a more one-to-one basis about this. If you have one of the following, i'll be glad to talk to you any time~

Skype: (Don't remember the username) If you have skype and only that, let me know what your account is and we can go from there.
I understand that this question in itself is very uninformative, but I can't think of a way to vocalize what needs to be said here, I find it requires a lot more of your own input.

alisonmarie answered Thursday August 4 2005, 10:18 am: Should you get help? The simple answer is 'yes.'
It sounds as though you are feeling sad, disheartened, hopeless, and angry. Regardless of what you currently think, not everyone is overwhelmed with these emotions. Some people do have peace of mind.
How is that found? Writing, religion, therapy, medication, art, music, growing up, inner strength, friends, family. Any of these, all of these, or something completely different.
Your first step is to let someone know how seriously bad you feel. Don't try to gloss over your feelings; let someone know how truly upset you are. A counsellor is a great place to start, if your school has one. It's a chance to talk openly and confidentially with someone who doesn't know you, your family, or your situation. They're totally unbiased and completely there for you.
If you feel uncomfortable approaching a counsellor, you could talk to a teacher, a family member, or your doctor.
no12trust answered Thursday August 4 2005, 9:57 am: Life is pointless...unless YOU try to change that. Everyone goes through this time in their life where they say this...and yes i have already gone through this. I don't think you need help and i don't think i can change your mind on anything that you are saying. Everyone is different and that does make us unique. When people go through pain and suffering it helps them become who they want to be. You do have an impact on everyone. What you are saying right now, someone might read and start to feel the same way. If you are depressed all the time family and friends might think they're doing something wrong and might become depressed too. You shouldn't be afraid of death. You do know that you are gonna die one day so if it happens tomorrow...well atleast maybe you changed someones life. This may not help..but ... this is my advise and it's the best i can do to help you...so
~I hope it works out for the best~
ps. for right now our lives do go in circles because we are in school and our brains still want to learn. Once we get older things will change we will have kids and work and just life. Right now i think you should be happy, don't be depressed about life. You should enjoy your life. [ no12trust's advice column | Ask no12trust A Question ]
TheOldOne answered Thursday August 4 2005, 8:46 am: I had a friend in college who used to say the exact same thing. He ended up dropping out and going into long-term therapy.
But that was a long time ago, and neuropharmacology has made some real strides since then.
What I'm saying is that while I'm not sure that you have clinical depression - I'm not a psychiatric professional, after all - it *does* sound as if you have some fairly serious issues, and depression is a definite possibility.
In which case, you have an imbalance of neurochemicals in your brain. That's a sickness, as real as a severed artery. But there are treatments that will help. I'd suggest talking to a psychiatrist about your feelings as soon as possible.
Now, I suspect that part of the reason you came here was to look for someone to tell you that life is meaningful; to give you a reason to go on. The problem is, if you DO have clinical depression, no reason will be good enough for you. It's as if you had a broken ankle; it doesn't help for me to tell you that running is good for you and shouldn't hurt. It hurts for YOU, because you're damaged and need to heal.
That said...I agree with you about an afterlife, as it happens. But I think that once you've gotten the help you need, you'll find that life can be wonderful. You're young; you have decades ahead of you. You can MAKE your life into something that's meaningful. Something to be proud of. You can leave the world a much better place.
And that's the secret of life, I think; you have to live it so that as many moments as possible are ones that you can be proud of. Helping other people is the best way I know to do that.
twistedsister17 answered Thursday August 4 2005, 8:19 am: I don't think you have depression. I just think you interperet and perceive things alot differently than most people. You sound exceptionally smart, so I would use all of that knowledge for something useful in this world. Maybe you could become a writer and write books on that kind of stuff, or maybe perhaps even become a pshycologist to help other people out with their feelings since you seem so in touch with yours. You may even want to keep a journal to help you express these emotions. Maybe if it becomes too much to handle, see a therapist and you can let out all your opinions and emotions. You're not the only one out there who feels this way. Sometimes I feel like that too. But then I just remember, "I'm alive right? I got a pretty good life. Nothings perfect."
