Cutting Music

Question Posted Tuesday July 26 2005, 11:44 pm

I'm a figure skater and since i'm competing again I want to cut my own music but the thing is that I dont know how and was wondering if anyone knows how to cut certain parts of a song out? I would ask my coach but she's out of town and I want to be able to work on the program myself and show her. Please and thank you

I would ask a friend who has a Windows Media Player. On that, u can cut, add, and paste together songs and stuff. Hop this helped.

The easiest way to do this, is to get, or make an mp3 or AIFF copy, of the music you want to cleaver, and then edit it on the computer. There are a lot of free programs out there to mix music, but beware of viruses. Limewire is an O.K. program for finding music on peer-to-peer networks, if the music is popular enough. Otherwise, you'll need to get the music on CD, or play it into your computer and record it, using an input jack (If you're not quite following all of this, then asking me another private question in my advice column would be O.K. It would be useful to know what format you have the music in, what operating system the computer you have access to runs, and whether or not it has a "sound input" jack in the back or side of it.)
When you're done, you can burn it as a music CD if you can get your hands on a CD burner, and play it using a normal CD player.
If you've got access to the technology, you can do it. If you don't, I'm afraid it will be incredibly difficult.

The following site has a good article about setting up to cut music.
[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

A good quality music editing program will help you cut your music for a routine. There are several for free or at least offer a free trial. I think these would be better for you to work with since you'll most likely not be needing it a lot. Just go to [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) and do a search for the phrase "audio production". It will pull up a list of the different things they offer.

I hope this helps. Good luck.
