help with the hairrrrrr

Question Posted Sunday July 24 2005, 2:06 pm

i have wavy hair that is a little past my shoulders ..it only takes me about a half hour to straighten my hair using my straightening iron (helen of troy) my hair stays straight for a little while, but then it starts to get a little wavy afterwards ..and this happens all the time ..i dont think its cause from sweat, becuase i dont sweat alot, but idk why it does that ..my hair is also layered and the top layers NEVER stay straight for a long time ..i use hairspray in it sometimes to try to keep it straight but it dosnt seem to work ..does anybody have any advice on what i can do to keep my hair straight? thanks! i rate high (:

your hair probably doesnt stay straight because of the weather...that happens to me all the time..you should try the frizz ease stuff or other hair rpoducts like that..they usually work pretty well

start by using a type of shampoo that is for straightening it. it doesn't work fully, but it helps a littl bit. also, save your money and get a chi straightening iron., they're the best ones. i have one, and my hair stays straight. my hair is also layered. hope i helped.

try all those products...find your favorite. then if it still doesn't work, either embrace the wave and go for a wavy or curly style, or cut your layers off and make your hair all the same length. layering is a huge part of your problem and i'm suprised no one else mentioned it (unless i just overlooked it). i know you might love your layers, and if you find one of the many products listed below works for you, then that's fantastic. however, if they don't seem to work, you can go get a haircut, and ask your stylist whether she thinks you should bring your layers together to make straightening easier, or if you should find a product to give you more waves. everyone has straight hair, if you can get great waves then go for that! it saves a ton of time, and looks really cute. hope i helped <3

my hair does the same as yours. if it is humid where you live you could maybe buy a straightening creme. if that doesnt work try and use a product made to straighten your hair and also straighten your hair with the iron. hope i helped.

hey! yeah i sometimes have that problem.. i think this may help-
1. wash your hair
2. blow dry it brushing it every 30 seconds
3. and then straighten it

or you could go to a salon... they would give you more advice ...they can also chemically straighten it

Hi!My name is Gabby.I used have the EXACT same problem.I might Know a few things to help you with your hair & some good brands.First lets talk about your iron.Helon of Troy is a very good brand, but what really matters is what the straightener has.Ceramics are the best!!!!And if you ae planning to buy a new one ,i would get one that lets you choose the temerature u want.By the way you decribed your hair I wuold get one to the highest temerature:400dgr.(like mine)Before I ever straighten my hair,I put:Proclaim(brand) Frizz eliminating Shine Spray.Oh ya.I almost forgot.Who ever told you to put hairspray on.They are wrong hairspray is like water and if you put water on your hair while its straightened,It goes back to your normal hair.I have thick wavy hair like you.I have been using a Curlmaster(brand)Ceramic for almost a year now and i love the way it works.I buy all my hair products at Sally's Beuty Supplise store.Okay well thats about all the advice i can give u.But 1 last thing,You might consider going to get a haircut to thin your hair a bit!Luv:A girl that knows exactly how you feel!!Good Luck

Karen answered Sunday July 24 2005, 2:34 pm:
I have a Helen of Troy straightener also and before I straighten my hair, I blow dry it and add a straightening serum to my hair that keeps it from frizzing and waving. It's by Paul Mitchell. You can also use "Wind-Down" by John Frieda and it'll keep your from waving.
