LifesNoStoryBook answered Saturday July 23 2005, 9:29 pm: It's never worked for me, but you're hair has to be damp. You're supposed to just sqeeeze some lemons over your head and sit out in the sun for about 30 minutes. - Since it didn't work for me, I just went to Wal-Mart and found this product that did the same thing except you didn't have to stand out in the hot sun! I'm sorry I couldn't remember the product, but try the lemons!

Brunette27 answered Saturday July 23 2005, 7:42 pm: You can just use your fingers to put in the lemon juice and then you have to sit out in the sun for a few hours. Do not get your hair wet for 24 hours or your highlights will wash out. I kno this from experience. It was actually pretty funny though. I took a shower and then when i got out my highlights were gone. If you don't get your hair wet it really works!! [ Brunette27's advice column | Ask Brunette27 A Question ]
xxxxxx answered Friday July 22 2005, 3:56 pm: put the lemon juice in your hair when its DAMP... then go in the sun and the sun will lighten your hair as it dries. It works so much better than putting it in dry hair. [ xxxxxx's advice column | Ask xxxxxx A Question ]
Karen answered Friday July 22 2005, 3:24 pm: When I did this before I started dying my hair, I would wet my hair, pour a little bit of pure lemon juice onto a small plate, take an unused tooth brush, dip it into the lemon juice, and just run the toothbrush through my hair, making streaks to have my hair highlighted. I would then go outside, and just lay and wait until my hair dried. You can repeat this process to get other parts of your head to get your hair highlighted by using lemon juice. IPIiINIkI_my_anti_drug answered Friday July 22 2005, 3:22 pm: Hey okay:
1. you dry your hair
2. sqweeze lemon juice in a bowl
3. take a large paint brush or brush or whatever and start "painting" your hair with lemon juice in the areas you want it to get light.
4. sit outside in the sun for about 1 hour or an hour and a half
DO NOT GO IN THE WATER FOR 24 HOURS OR THIS WILL NOT WORK!!

[edit2] - You give me a 4 cuz YOU did it wrong? That's just not right. It still may turn up alright though, if not, redo it.
[edit] - I'd try it on dry or 75% dry hair, if you put it on wet hair, it will only dilute the lemon and won't work as effectively.
I've never done it before, but I hope this will help.
Squeeze a bunch of lemons to get the juice in a bowl. Put on some rubber gloves, and separate the layers of your hair using a hairclip. Take a brush (a basting brush or any art brush will do) dip and soak in lemon juice, and take desired strands of hair to highlight. After done with that layer of hair, repeat with other layers and sit out in the sun.
