Any program used to download music and you don't pay for it is ILLEGAL. Your friends are wrong. It's illegal. iTunes and whatever is legal and so is Napster.

i think it is. actually you are a loud to download music and lsiten to it but u CANT sell it to other people without the owners permission.

The application is not illegal. Using it is not. What you use it to do can be.
Obtaining copyrighted materials for free without the expressed permission of the owner of the copyright is illegal. In other words, downloading music and movies is, in general, illegal.
