Tomorrow I am going to a late audition for Cinderella. It's a musical. I have no fear of being onstage at all. The only thing that is scaring me is that I'm sick. My throat has crap all down that back of it so I have to constantly clear my throat. It was generous of Mrs.Jane to let me have a second chance to audition but my voice is far from it's best. I have been told that I can sing well, but I'm worried I will sound really bad tomorrow. Does anybody know of any way/remedy for my throat/voice? I know it's kind of stupid to ask, but I really want a part. Should I just tell Mrs.Jane that I'm sick or what? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Drink lots of tea with honey. Soup will help too. Basically anything warm and liquity. Hope I helped. Good luck at your audition!

Just sing like normal, ignore the phlegmy sound and the worst that you can do is strain your voice to try and hide the phlegmy sound. And if "Mrs. Jane" is really a professional, she'll be able to tell your experience and the way your voice sounds through the phlegm.
PinkLady4863 answered Saturday July 16 2005, 10:51 pm: hot peppermint tea! this is a full-proof way to clear your throat before an audition, it also soothes the voice box for a more flexible range as my voice teacher tells me.

I think that you should really tell her that you are still sick... but you will still give it your all. I remember one time watching American Idol and I remember one the contestants said they always drank a shot of olive oil. It should coat your throat and soothe it. Try it before you go for your audiciean.. so you can see if you can sing after taking it, and if its too much or too little... But i hope it helps. GOOD LUCK!!!
Razhie answered Saturday July 16 2005, 10:05 pm: The hot water advice is right on. Even drink a cup of tea or such before bed to get it started. Don't have any milk or dairy products before your audition cause they make the phelm worse.
I think you should tell her you are sick. Don't make a big deal of it. Just thank her for the chance and inform her that you have a throat cold but will give your all anyways.
ncblondie answered Saturday July 16 2005, 10:00 pm: Try drinking a cup of hot water with honey in it. It will soothe your throat. Tell Mrs. Jane before you audition that your voice is still up to par and ask her if she will take that into consideration. Hope this helps. Good luck. linksys answered Saturday July 16 2005, 9:52 pm: Take some medicine, one you know works well for sore throats and flem. Drink NeoCitrin before bed and eat fisherman friends caugh drops before you sing. Also, drink lots of water. When you get there tell Mrs.Jane you have a cold and youre voice isnt very good "today". xojuicybabe55ox answered Saturday July 16 2005, 9:35 pm: I think you should tell her that you're sick, because if you try out and your voice squeaks then you may not get the part. I'm sure she will believe you, but maybe you should just practice in front of her to let her see if you are well enough to sing or not.
