Rat- bored!
I have a rat. And i was wondering from anyone who knows anything about them. What can be done or given to a rat to keep it amused. I open the cage everyday and let him run up my bookcase(where his cage is situated) but I don't know if this is efficient enough? Anything would be appreciated.

why dont you get a run-around ball for your rat. if you dont know its a plastic ball you put your rat in and he can run around on the floor in it. that way he will be amused for hours, get excersise and you wont loose him.
he'll have a ball!!! lol i love to hear how your rat goes in one keep me posted!!!

try a wheel and/or one of those traviling balls that you always see hamsters in.?

Try buying one of those rat balls. They are made oughta plastic and its easy to let the rat run around and you don't have to keep such a close eye on it.

My daughter had gerbils...well, that's what she called them. Glorified rats is what I called them. Anyway, I got used to them. They make excellent paper shredders and so they are good for ridding the world of anything that could be used for identity theft. And, they love doing it.
Your rat would probably also enjoy a wheel in its cage and one of those balls that roll around on the floor. You do have to go to the rescue now and than when they get hung up on something but they really enjoy those.

ell i have, well had 2 rats(one died). you should play with it every day. any attention will keep it happy. you should also try giving him treats. they love that! some get peatty big, so make sure you have a big enough cage!

Buy a wheel for it to run on. At your local petstores they have many things to buy for rats.

rats are like hamsters
they like runnin through tubes and on wheels so just get it some little things to run through and a wheel and you should be ready to go

You can go to a pet store, they will have stuff for your rat like little weels taht they can run on in their cage and they have little balls that they can run around in .. Hope i helped you !!

ok you could do a coupple of things. 1) you could get him a clear ball and what you do is put the rat or hamster inside of it and they will run around in the ball. this keeps them save from getting into stuff or getting attacked by a family dog or cat. Another suggestion is to tape some toilet paper rolls together and make a little tube town for him it works very good and they love it!

A Weel! They love those things! They run for ever! Or get a ball that you cna put it in and just close your door and let it run around in that! They could do that for hours and hours and hours! lolhaha byby

There are little toys and stuff like that you can buy them at pet stores to amuse them.

Get him a partner so they can take over the world!
Or an exersize wheel. Maybe go to your local pet shop and see if they have any rat toys.
