ncblondie answered Wednesday July 13 2005, 5:24 pm: Diabetic means their body does not process the right amount of insulin to break down sugars correctly. Since alcohol is high in sugar, it should definitely be avoided. A diet low in sugar and carbs can also help control the diabetes. Exercise in moderation is good. The doctor can prescribe medicine or insulin if dietary and exercise changes do not help. [ ncblondie's advice column | Ask ncblondie A Question ]
M_to_the_E_to_the_L answered Monday July 11 2005, 7:35 pm: My boyfriends fatehr just got diagnosed with Diabetese. There are two levels of Diabetes. ONe is more severe than the other. I don't know what type he has but typically they put them on a pill and they have to monitor their blood sugar and control their diet. Alcohol is sometimes permitted, depending on teh level, but in small amounts. If it is the severer type then patients with go to get insulin shots. Diabetes control has come a long way and is often not fatal if treated properly, meaning getting regular shots or staying on a steady diet. If ignored the worst case scenario is likley a stroke or possible death. [ M_to_the_E_to_the_L's advice column | Ask M_to_the_E_to_the_L A Question ]

lil_froggy9 answered Saturday July 9 2005, 11:55 am: Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into daily used energy. When a diabetic has low blood sugar they get a shot of insulin into their blood stream...Eating foods or drinks with too much sugar can be harmful to them...too much alchol can be harmful...because of all the sugars...but a little is ok...If you want to learn more about it...go to [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) will tell you everything you need to know...
smartgirl321 answered Saturday July 9 2005, 2:00 am: drinking alcohol does make it worse. being diabetic means you dont make enough insulin for your body. it is usually treated with insulin shots or i think pills. my grandma has it and it cannot be cured. it either stays the same or gets worse depending on whether you follow your dietary plan or not. leave me a message in my inbox if you need more help.

And what the hell is with the title? "Why would anyone make of fun of someone sick???" You didn't bring up anything related to that whatsoever. Thats like me asking the question.
Why would anyone make of fun of the pizza man???
I just found out that the ice cream truck was here, and I am wondering if I should get pizza or ice cream. Does anyone have suggestions?
I know several diabetics that drink a lot, however they are lightweights and can't handle a whole hell of a lot. Im not sure if it makes it worse - but, it does do damage to your internal organs, so that really doesn't matter. [ poa's advice column | Ask poa A Question ]
