Question Posted Friday July 8 2005, 12:44 pm

Hi.
I have acne and whenever I wash my face, it feels tight and starts to get dry and sometimes flakey. What's this mean? Also if it helps I just started using this face wash.

All it means is that it's drying out your skin. Is it an acne medicated face wash? Acne medicated face washes ALWAYS dry out your skin even if they say it has moisturizers in it. After you wash your face, also use Clean and Clear morning glow. It has a great moisturizer in it and it keeps your skin nice and soft. Always use a moisturizer on your face if you use an ance medicated face wash. I had that problem forever with face washes. Even if you do get a moisturizer that says it has an ance fighting ingredient in it, it still dries out your skin.

Maybe the face wash you are using is too strong for your skin. Try Dove Self-Foaming Cleanser, it works really good and it's a mild wash too! Hope you like it! =)

Try a milder, less drying face wash.

Also, try an oil-free moisturizer.

It means that the face wash is too strong, or your using it too often. If your using it more than once a day then go down to just once. But if your only using it once a day and its still doing it then, get something else.

i use olay mousturizer and i have VERY sensitive skin...your face is probably sensitive too, and the wash might be breakign you out. but since we have the same problem, i will tell you my beauty secrets. ok so i use whats called biore blemish fighting ice cleanser. it gets deep in your pores and washes out all the dirt, i saw a reduce in my acne the next day after i used it. but here is the trick after you wash your face put whats called an anstringent on your face and neck(preferebly biore astringent)it makes your pores smaller and helps prevent dirt from getting into them. when you use it, it will stinga little so dont move your face much. but after its dry, put the mosturizer on it and dont touch your face. i did that and now i am acne free! hope i helped

that's actually a good thing -sounds weird, but what it's doing is drying it up which will make it go away. you can buy a moisturizer (oil-free) for when you want to wear makeup!

Usually when that happens it means you should stop using. But you're an acception in this case. Keep using it for a week. If the flakes continue. Consult your mom.

By the way, I just your momed you.
