No insurance for birth control?

Question Posted Wednesday July 6 2005, 11:52 pm

Hey, I recently made my first appointment to see a gyno so I could be put on birth control. The only problem is my Mom told me we don't have any prescription insurance so for medication we need to pay the full amount. I'm 19 years old and I;m wondering if theres any cheap ones anyones on or if this has happened to anyone else. Thank you so much!

You can go to Planned Parenthood and they will usually give you some for free.

Try your local health department or Planned Parenthood office. A lot of times, these places provide you contraceptives at little or no cost.

Check with the health department in your area to get it cheap.

No insurance that I know of covers birth control which I find odd. It will pay for Viagra! So, even if you had prescription coverage it wouldn't cover BC pills. :)

Your local health department provides it for free. You just go there and tell them that you want it and they'll give it to you. At least that's how it is here where I live. Also there are these birth control shots that you can get in your butt once a month and they're cheaper than paying for the pill. I hope I helped you.
