I took one of those pearler bead things (with the little spikey things) and drug it up and down the kneews untill i could feel the fabric getting thinner. then i got a brick and continued rubbing it. eventually it will tear a little bitty bit. dont tear it anymore. wear them around the house until the hole gets a big as you want it. trust me it works
DONT CUT IT! it looks ridiculously fake despite what youve heard.
Ive tried both so i know.

i think that if you get a key and like slide it dont the pant of the jean it should make a nice good rip. it would look like you bought them.

good luck

Loz4Dan4Eva answered Wednesday July 6 2005, 12:07 pm:
I've heard that you can rip them with a knife and then use scissors to fray them around where you have cut. I haven't actually tried it before, but to me it makes sense that you should be able to.

I hope this helps =)

well i lay my jeans on the driveway or concrete and then i get a pair of scissors and scratch from side to side and then up and down and it makes a whole with the white strings hanging from it. . . then wash them a few times and they should turn out right!

hope it works.

MELiixMARiiE answered Monday July 4 2005, 7:00 pm:
Well what I do, is I take a pair of scissors and I make a little tiny cut like.. --- ... and then I start ripping it.. not really hard, just really slow, so you can make the hole as big as you want...and if there are little white things that are around the whole, then kinda just snip at em' from the top to make them look a bit messier. I don't know how to make the white things go across. I think you can only make those come naturally...hope I helped!!

X0C0URT answered Monday July 4 2005, 1:28 pm:
I did that to a skirt once and it worked really good. Try using a razor (like one that you shave with) to fray the bottoms and make holes in the knees. Just have fun with it. My friend uses bleach on hers and it looks really cool. Just stain some areas on the jeans. You can also use things like sandpaper or a nail file. Hope this helps! I'm not exactly sure how to do as good as stores like Hollister, but you're right those can be expensive.

ive found rubbing a nail filler over the knee or other area to work good! it gives the jeans a distressed look and looks much more natural then cutting with sissors! hope this helps &hearts please rate

what you can do is you can take some sissors then cut a little slit in bloth knee areas it works trust me first take a Old pair of jeans that dont fit you first and cut a little slit into them and see how it turns out and then if you like them you can take a pair of jeans that fit you and do the same thing to them

NanakiBH answered Sunday July 3 2005, 9:10 pm:
Cut them with scizzors and then pull on the loose strings a little. Put it in the wash and when it comes out it should be frayed more. I did that recently with a pair of shorts. It's definitely a better idea than buying them now. They're all expensive and they look like crap. Preripped jeans just look awkward instead of natural, you know?

But anyway, once you have them ripped like I said, they'll rip even easier when you walk on them.

Try Sandiing them with sandpaper, it made my jeans look great. You could try puttin a small cut *with scissors* then tearing the hole open with yur hands then washing it to give em the "frayed" look.

Hope it all works! &hearts

FrEe2bMe answered Sunday July 3 2005, 8:45 pm:
Hey! There's a really good website that tells you step by step how to do it and everything. The site mentions that you should use a sharp pointed knife, but I also like to use a seam ripper. (You can find them in the sewing section or a fabric store) for the pockets like you are describing. You just get a part of the string and fabric and run it over it over nad over and if rips it up. But as for the whole ripped/worn look here's the website: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

Good luck and have fun! :)
