HckyAg89 answered Friday July 8 2005, 1:48 am: Ok, this is my thing i have been doing to get in shape for hockey, i assume it works the same for vert jumping seen as how using the same muscles, so here i go... if you have access to a gym, the leg press is beautiful, but only use it 3-4 times a week, or it deteriorates your muscle instead of building it
There are other machines also, such as the calf raise machine, but make sure u stretch before using, or else you start to cramp up.
Another major muscle used for vert jumping is your hamstring(the entire back of your leg, from the bottom of your butt, to the top of your knee crevace.)Of course, if you want to jump high, us an EXPLODE cadance, which basically means muster up all your strengh, and let all your rage out while lifting, it gives you the most blood flow to the specified area. make sure your staying hydrated while workin out too, and make sure to stretch, you have no clue as to how much it will benefit you in the future.

MHScutie87 answered Sunday July 3 2005, 11:21 pm: hey (i asked my brother on this one lol)- you should jump rope a bunch to help improve your leg strength. also do those wall sits where your like sitting on a chair (but there is no chair of course).
also, keep certain marks on the wall that you can reach for. keep one for your maximum height you can reach, and then place another marker a few inches above that and try reaching for it. occasionally, raise the marker and you'll be surprised.
eternitysofbliss answered Sunday July 3 2005, 2:58 pm: i recommend strenght shoes. doing squats and exersices for your legs will help. Try calf raises and stuff like that. also do about 100 vert jumps a day and steadily increase that number. hope i could help. [ eternitysofbliss's advice column | Ask eternitysofbliss A Question ]
