I was so excited when I saw this question because I love to write! Before I write, I usually read so I get to see writing techniques of other authors. (similes, metaphors, etc.) Then I just brainstorm a bunch of good words or ideas to put in my story or writing piece. Even before I start it I think of sentences that would be good for it. I don't know if I really helped you or not, but it was kind of nice to share this with another writer.

Listening to music usually helps me. Lyrics can be pretty inspirational. One of my personal favorites is Clay Aiken. Crazy, but his lyrics are amazing.

Also, weather is a good muse.

Here's one for you - I'll give you a few words/phrases/whatevers, and you will read one of them, then write whatever comes into mind. And you'll keep your pen moving (or fingers typing) for at least 2 minutes. Then, when you're ready, you'll read the next and do the same. Wash, rinse, repeat. Some of them won't be that great, but whatever. This is how we started our creative writing class every evening a couple years ago. (well, one per night, that is)
