monica_62 answered Saturday June 18 2005, 10:00 pm: a lot of people suggest Proactiv..the infomercial stuff..but its not worth the money. i found out on my own, that Biore products work better than Proactiv. its much cheaper in price, and works more effectively. Gorda1224 answered Friday June 17 2005, 9:24 pm: hey,
Well i have gone to my dermotologist and she gave me a cream, its called Benzacline (i think thats how you spell it). It really helps. But the only problem is that its perscribed. So you would have to go to your Dr. Or you can get Proactive that also work. Hope i have helped. [ Gorda1224's advice column | Ask Gorda1224 A Question ]
DeeSireDiOr answered Thursday June 16 2005, 8:37 pm: Ahh i know how you feel doll! Acne sucks.
Well for every person its different but what helped me was proactiv. It actually works so you should try it. Its on tv all the time so you can get it there or go to [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Also dont over wash your face. Your face depends on the oil it is given each day.
LoveNJstyle answered Thursday June 16 2005, 8:10 pm: over-washing is soooo bad for your acne! go to a derm, they will get rid of the scrubs and put you on some meds that can actually help it, trust me! <3 [ LoveNJstyle's advice column | Ask LoveNJstyle A Question ]
vermillion26 answered Thursday June 16 2005, 7:11 pm: i use spectrojel...it seems to work really well on me. it depends on your skin type, i guess. you can also help clear up your skin by cutting back on greasy foods (fries, etc.) and chocolate. you dont have to STOP completly. if you do eat a lot of that kind of stuff try to cut back and wash your face with spectrojel (or whatever you find works)and your skin should clear up quickly. good luck.
eLiSe answered Thursday June 16 2005, 6:38 pm: Hey I know how you feel! When I was in Florida my face got sooo broken out (especially my forehead) and thats the only time i've ever been embarrassed by acne in my life!! Ok but yea it felt like nothing worked, but when i came back, my friend let me use a Biore Self-Heating mask i think and it worked!!! But I also used Clearasil--it a small tube thats a tinted formula (adult formula) and rub it in all over the break out spots. Also try proactive lol its kinda expensive so Wal-mart makes a brand called Acnefree and it works!!! Ok well hope I helped! Love yah! [ eLiSe's advice column | Ask eLiSe A Question ]
hyperhottiegirl answered Thursday June 16 2005, 6:34 pm: first of all dont wash your face 3 times a day just in the morning and night. i no how you feel cause i used to have the same problem. a would suggest a soft wash like clean and clear morning burst by jhonson n jhonson and put a light face mask on 3 times a week but if that dries out your skin only 1 time a week. you want to use acne treatment that you can put on your face when you fall asleep but remember nothing to strong. if that dosnt work then just go to a dermatologist. now my pimples are gone YAH it takes time but eventually they will go away dont worry. ~JORDAN E~ [ hyperhottiegirl's advice column | Ask hyperhottiegirl A Question ]
LoViny0ux914 answered Thursday June 16 2005, 6:34 pm: one -- dont wash your face that much. it takes away too much of your oils and it can very easily dry out your face. wash it twice a day and put some sort of cream on your face during hte day before you apply your make-up if you wear any. also, if you dont eat very healthy, you should. greasy fatty foods tend to make people break out more. and a day in the sun always help its clear up a bit! other than that just keep looking for different products and eventually you'll find some that work for you! gl hun [ LoViny0ux914's advice column | Ask LoViny0ux914 A Question ]
Michele answered Thursday June 16 2005, 6:12 pm: Hi, I am an esthetician (skin care) and I am glad to help. First of all, you can't cure acne, you can only manage it. If you do it right, it will work, but you have to work on it every day. Your skin changes every 28 days, so it takes a pimple 28 days to start, grow and heal. So the work you do now will prevent pimples in the future.
Washing your face is not the total answer.
First you have to find a product that works well on your skin. There are only three products that are good for acne, and not every product works for every person. So you have to experiment. Try each product seperately for 30 days before giving up. I shop by ingredients not name brands, so you have to read the ingredients.
Benzoil peroxide is the most common and most successful (remember doesn't work for everyone)
Salicylic Acid or glycolic acid
Sulfur
these ingredients or even a combination of them work on acne.
2nd you must keep your face free from bacteria, not necessarily by washing it three times a day, do wash at least twice, but don't touch your face with your hands, don't touch your face with towels or wash clothes that have been used by other people. Make sure pillow case is clean. DON'T EVER GO TO SLEEP WITH MAKEUP ON.
3rd, you must exfoliate your skin at least three times a week. (Dead skin cells and bacterial cause acne.) exfoliate with and exfoliating sponge, or with micro dermabrasion crystals. (loreal makes one brand, so does mary kay, I've seen other brands at CVS pharmacy. ) Brand doesn't matter.
If you skin is oily DON"T over do it with cleansers and toners that dry up oil, it just makes the oil glands work that much harder. Hydrate your skin by drinking a lot of water.
If you wear makeup use non-comedogenic makeup - does not clog pores.
If you follow these instructions, you won't be acne free completely, but you have a lot less acne. Oh yes, careful with hair spray and hair gels, do not get them on your face.
Hope this helps.
